Thank you @lightningmcstitch!! The freezer paper stenciling came out great. I found a fabric spray paint which made it very easy to use. She loves her Totoro dress!

Thanks @lightningmcstitch and @liesl it makes perfect sense. In fact I found a tutorial that actually pictorially explains it so all I need now is some time to actually implement it. Thanks again and yes pics are on there way too.

I think @lightningmcstitch is on the right track. Basically, you’ll cut off the top half of the sleeve cap and leave enough to hem the top edge. The you’ll add a bias facing to the upper armhole to finish it. It’s like the Partial Cap Sleeve in the Building Block Dress book, except the bias facing is at the top of the armhole instead of the…[Read more]

@with_love_Heidi Thanks, I was close to giving up on this one but once I sacrificed the sleeve going in perfectly it was going to work.
@sarvi Thank you.
@lightningmcstitch Thank you.
I am wearing the top today so maybe I can get a better photo.

@lightningmcstitch, one question…I have just cut the pattern and I have made a muslin (never thought before I would be doing this, but I love the st James knit I bought in Mood´s and I don´t want to mess things…)
I see that the back is longer than the front, but both hems, back and front, will be even at the end, it is the shoulder seam the o…[Read more] -

Thanks, everybody!
I *just* made him a black sketchbook shirt, but it’s short-sleeved. So I might see if I can fit a long-sleeved one. I was thinking pants, and I’ve been meaning to sew the Art Museum trousers anyway, so that’s the way I’m leaning.
@lightningmcstitch, @liesl – hah! Thanks! If I could get an Everyday skirt out of it, I probably…[Read more] -

Thanks for the suggestions @LightningMcStitch ! I am thinking about using either the Music Class blouse or the Sunday Brunch jacket as a starting point for the collar/top. It does need to be an all in one dress as she only wears dress – 24/7 and usually only pink. She makes an exception for Anna outfits. ;-P
@with love Heidi thanks! I will take…[Read more]

OMG! @lightningmcstitch we don’t want to ruffle any feathers 😂 God knows we have plenty of those winged pests here as it is! I was thinking black but I am going to have a look at the link you very thoughtfully provided and see if I can find a hot pink one. Thankyou so much😘 I am rather excited about the prospect of this jacket and hopefully it…[Read more]

I’m working my magic with fabric,
Of a colour described as “dab brick”
It’s not easy to sew
So I’m taking it slow
Afterall, it is only cambric!(Sorry @lightningmcstitch I felt compelled to challenge everyone unnecessarily😀)
I’ve just made a long journey home
(A bit easier for you I hope)

Ahhh. Thank you for all your advice! @nestfullofeggs and @lightningmcstitch. I went ahead and tried to quilt each lining piece and each outer piece. I used a light weight flannel instead of batting to cut down on the bulk. I think it turned out lovely. The pattern seems roomy enough to handle it.

Have you tried the Outdoor Ready series on our blog? As I recall, Ashley had a nice post there about sourcing fabric for purposes like this. I remember that Rose City Textiles was listed as an option, but maybe she mentioned others as well?

Well, it looks like I made a spelling error. So, for catching it, @lightningmcstitch, you have to take the next line:

Jen replied to the topic Lengthen culottes in the forum oliver + s: lunch box tee + culottes 8 years ago
Thanks @lightningmcstitch 🙂
I ended up making the 3T with a much smaller elastic (fitted to her). The back turned into a gathered back rather than the single pleat. According to the 4yr old, it’s “fine”.
I’m interested to remake it though, because my waistband was an inch too small. I cut a larger one to fit the culottes.

@lightningmcstitch did you go in person to this place or buy online because I noticed they look as though they ship from NZ.

@lightningmcstitch you crack me up! That’s hilarious.
Having just had a baby in the US, I’m totally in pounds right now (8lb 10 1/2oz). I just know she was waaaay heavier than the other tow (2925gm and 3125gm). I can’tr remember what Dot is in gm, and no-one here understands, so there seems little point!
