You did post correctly. But @lightningmcstitch is suggesting that you review past discussion threads for this pattern to see if someone has posted something about this already. You can find all the posts on that pattern with this link:

Thank you @lightningmcstitch for your replies and the link. I think I’ve now done the back bodice but I’m still unsure about the front bodice.
I think I may not have explained myself very well. I’m attaching a photo which I hope will explain better than I’ve managed with words alone. If the straight of grain continues across the inserted piece…[Read more] -

@lightningmcstitch I think you are right about solving this by redrawing the hemline. I don’t have the Geneva blouse pattern but I do have a different pattern that would probably work.
I know a lot of people love this shirt pattern, including me but I can’t find any mention of this issue in the reviews I’ve read which leads me to think I’m n…[Read more]

@lightningmcstitch thank you so much for responding to my post. I managed to finish my shirt but I’m not pleased with the result & would like to make this shirt again. I need to figure this out so I made a mini muslin of the area I’m having trouble with (creating a reenactment,if you will 😊) & have attached 2 photos. As you can see the right sid…[Read more]

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Adding sleeves to the Marais? in the forum liesl + co: marais knit dress + top 2 years ago
I’m in total agreement. Sleeveless styles usually don’t extent out to the shoulder to accomodate a sleeve, so it’s much easier to copy the armhole of a garment with sleeves if you want to add them. Thanks, @lightningmcstitch!

Thanks @lightningmcstitch Shelley! I’ll try that on the next ones, I was so sad! And I’ll see if I can’t fix up the one that’s frayed. I’m not much good at hand sewing but at least it’s on the back and she has long hair, lol. I’ve been wracking my brain since it happened and I was wondering if shortening my stitch and top stitching would help to…[Read more]

Thank you @lightningmcstitch. I will see how I go on the next one. They have not turned out terribly just do not want gathering at all.
Thanks again

Good thing my mother knows I’m a procrastinator! The “baby” from my first post is now almost 18 months old, but I finished the shirt! I thought I’d close the loop on this post and thank people for their advice.
I made a muslin, Mom tried it on earlier this summer when we visited her, and I’m very glad we went through the trouble. She preferred a…[Read more]

Dixie replied to the topic Popover shoulder straps without bows in the forum oliver + s: popover 5 years ago
You know, that makes me think, Liesl — I hadn’t thought of how you could actually make the (essentially) bias tape into a loop before sewing it on at all. I was trying to work it out technically in my head — how I could make a loop without having an awkward lumpy seam at the top. Thanks @liesl and @lightningmcstitch!

Becca replied to the topic Changing Neck Line in the forum oliver + s: building block dress 6 years ago
Thanks, @lightningmcstitch! I’m so new to sewing and don’t have any real formal training, so I had no idea that a forward shoulder adjustment was even a thing, but it sounds like just what she needs. I’ll google it. Thank you so much! Do you have any suggestions on how I should change the shape of the collar based on changing the neckline? I think…[Read more]

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Making the Muslin for Classic Shirt in the forum liesl + co: classic shirt 6 years ago
Just a lightweight muslin would work fine. Most good fabric shops will carry multiple weights of muslin for different purposes. I usually keep several weights on hand–right now I’m developing trousers and using a heavier weight than I would use for blouses. But @lightningmcstitch is right–if you have a voile or batiste that would be fine too.…[Read more]

@motherof5 HI NICOLE DEAR AND HAPPY NEW YEAR , yes we thought of that , but they seems determined like only pisces twins can be that this must have sleeves lol @lightningmcstitch gave me a great suggestion to use my building block book ( which I plan to diligently look over now). In the interim my one twin does drafting and came up with an idea…[Read more]

Oh, you have twins too @florencetaylor, how lovely!
What a lovely lot of sewing you have to do, I miss sewing pretty wee dresses.
Half way there now, I am not sure I will get it all done. I will probably leave Jed’s shirt (for later) he doesn’t mind.
@lightningmcstitch that mat is amazing, what an incredible gift.

Oh, good question @lightningmcstitch! I’ve sewn the size 10 myself, so I know the collar fits correctly. When I say pin on the seamline I mean don’t pin at the edges but pin where you’ll be sewing. You’ve already staystitched the neckline, so that’s a good guide. I hope that helps! We’ve got lots of photos on the sew-along, so maybe that is a good…[Read more]

Thanks @lightningmcstitch, luckily this was a consistent fabric pattern, but will definitely keep that in mind for future fabrics.

Thanks very much @lightningmcstitch 😊
The bust fits. However I have *very* wide lower hips, this makes fitting an absolute nightmare as patterns are generally not designed for bodies like mine😁 Extra width is mandatory for me.
I didn’t think about making the pleat deeper. I’ll give it a try. Thank you x

I don’t either, @lightningmcstitch! It’s never caused a real problem, and if I get a little nest of threads I just cut them off. No biggie.
