It may be possible? It’s kind of a Dolman style, the band at the bottom is what creates the sleeve look.

No, no additional seam allowance, just marking so you can make your fox.

I have made it more times without a sleeve than with, ha! It’s a favorite for summer around here. Anyway, I just leave the sleeve off and line the bodice. Like Liesl said, the kimono sleeve makes it look short sleeved. In this post I talk about how to line the bodice: https://oliverands.com/community/blog/2015/06/fox-playtime-dress.html

What about the Hopscotch or the Butterfly? Personally I like the swingset in lightweight fabrics.

Brittney replied to the topic your wish list in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 8 years ago
That’s a shame, I am to the point where I want and crave a nice, detailed and technical sew. I long for a four scissor pattern. The simple ones do get made, and they are wardrobe staples, but I fear I am going to get bored and it won’t be fun or a challenge any more.

Brittney replied to the topic Do you know of a similar pattern? in the forum off topic 8 years ago
You could easily use the Women’s Metro T-shirt pattern from Liesl and Co. Especially with the tunic you already purchased, you can measure where to cut the shirt pattern to make the skirt. This tutorial should help, just make the skirt portion longer: http://oliverands.com/community/blog/2014/02/customizing-the-raglan-peplum-ruffle.html

I agree with the above, I was making what I liked for my oldest, then getting annoyed when she would only wear it once it twice. I finally figured out that I needed to ask her opinion on basically everything.
Her current favorites are the school bus tee, field trip Raglan and the swingset skirt. She has more of a casual style, so I always try…[Read more]

Brittney replied to the topic Sewing with Rayon- Fabric Care in the forum off topic 9 years ago
I always prewash everything. I make sure when I buy Rayon that it is a kind that can be washed, I don’t have the time to hand wash or to take it to the cleaners.
I typically wash in warm and then dry on medium heat the first time, because there is a very good chance it will eventually slip past me and end up being dried or washed warm so it’s…[Read more]

Brittney replied to the topic Monochrome Project- B&W in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 9 years ago
That’s the beauty of these challenges, they aren’t required. If you don’t have the time or the will to join, then don’t:)
I loved the color theme, I tend to go bright, so it was fun to try out a monochrome look. Maybe a holiday theme? Christmas dresses and dapper boy outfits will be right around the corner.

I really enjoyed getting outside my box and trying this challenge. I think it would be fun every other month, or maybe once a quarter?, to have some sort of thing like this. Whether it is a color challenge or pattern challenge, or whatever else your creative minds think up. Just me thinking out loud here 😉

Liesl’s FBA instructions are top notch. I was leery of trying it when I first started sewing for myself, but I shouldn’t have been.

Brittney replied to the topic Used shoes — buying, selling, donating in the forum off topic 9 years ago
I donate our old ones to a local church thrift store. They sell locally what they can and send the others that are still useable, but maybe not sellable, to poorer countries where they give them for free.

Brittney replied to the topic What size to make? in the forum liesl + co: gallery tunic + dress 9 years ago
I went with my normal L&C size, too. I found it just right. I am a D and skipped the FBA, first by accident, but it worked out well so I didn’t bother with it the other times, either. I suggest a muslin, also.

Brittney replied to the topic Sleeves too short? in the forum oliver + s: school bus t-shirt 9 years ago
I have to lengthen the sleeves on this one, but my kids are tall for their age. When I made my son one without, it ended up being more of a 3/4 sleeve.

Brittney replied to the topic Parachute polo in all knit? in the forum oliver + s: parachute polo + sweatpants 9 years ago
I haven’t made an all knit one yet, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Just be careful that the collar and placket don’t stretch too much and distort.
