@theartsypaul yes there is. It’s called the Building Block Dress. If you look at some of the recent blog posts on the book, you’ll see it discussed there.

Yep, the City Stroll skirt.
The Everyday Skirt is fuller and therefore more fabric hungry. -

You should try it @enbee you might be surprised. This is a 1m cut and as you can see it wasn’t even square.

He’s not a kid- but—
Omg. I made my husband sit next to me and look through the book and to talk about the modifications that our daughter, she who is addicted to mommy couture, might like.
Reaction one- well now you have to put pockets on everything. No excuses.
Reaction two- Glancing as I’m closing the book- “a hidden zipper?? OMG how…[Read more]

I’d second the Art Museum trousers idea, but…
You could almost certainly squeeze a City Stroll skirt onto a 1m cut of linen. Just sayin… It’s yours. 🙂 -

The Gallery Tunic is a perfect “fake” shirt. You get a collar and placket to work with, but it’s a really easy placket technique. There are no buttonholes and fitting is easy as it’s a loose fitting style with pleats front and back for extra ease.
I’m living in a dress I made recently from this pattern, so it’s was to wear too.
Another vote for…[Read more] -

Hello, I got my book today. I live a mere 3 hours from the distribution center, so it did not have far to travel.
I just did a quick peruse and wow… this is great!
This shows so much about lengthening, shortening and spreading. Changing silhouettes, finishes and details and pockets and so much more.
Sewists, Oh my! There is so much to…[Read more]

Todd Gibson replied to the topic Size chart? in the forum oliver + s: building block dress 8 years ago
Body measurements are the same as they are for all our patterns since we use a standard sizing method. So check any of your patterns, and the book will be the same.

How sweet.
My 6 year old was trying to con her grandmother (my mother) into making her an alternative dinner since she didn’t like what was made. (An expressly against the rules thing.)
She told my mother that “You don’t have to follow mommy’s rules, because you are mommy’s mommy and she has to follow your rules. And besides sometimes adults…[Read more]

Glad you found the issue. I was going to say that this one sounded pretty odd to me and I had no idea what would have been causing the problem!

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Frozen Fever Anna – Halloween in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 8 years ago
@caraskates I searched for the image (frozen ignoramus I’m afraid) and how about this: Music Class blouse, Lazy Days Skirt then a bodice whatsit that laces at the back to go over the top.
Then you’ve got separates that are wearable as everyday items and whack in the brooch at the neck and the bodice and you’re instantly Anna.
You could use a…[Read more] -

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Add cotton lace trim to hem and sleeves in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 8 years ago
@kmac0107 Kim, do you mind if the trim shows on the reverse side?
If you don’t then it would be as simple as turning up the hem allowance, pinning the trim to the underside then stitching it on while stitching the hem.
If you want to go fancier…. You could try the following:
Trim off any hem allowance in excess of a 1/2 seam allowance. Line up…[Read more] -

I totally lost my mojo. School starts tomorrow and as we were preparing for it this weekend- doing laundry, checking for fit, cleaning, etc. My daughter and I were discussing first day outfits. Because first day!
She said she wanted to wear a dress that I had made. I promptly vetoed that because it was the dress I made for her last year and…[Read more]

Thanks @reeni – very helpful info. I’ll use the Purl Soho one then, and will make a cardboard pressing tool as well. I’m going to use cotton lawn for my first attempt. I’m hoping for the best!
