As I responded on Instagram, you just need to find the template for the placket, which is separate from the pattern piece itself and is located right next to it on the pattern sheet.

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Proper Sizing for busty girl?? in the forum liesl + co: enmore halter dress + top 2 years ago
Erica, thanks for your reply! And indeed, since this style doesn’t have shoulders I wouldn’t worry about that. Look at the bust measurement. If you need to do a full bust adjustment for the shelf bra you could also add room through the front (maybe just move the fold line out a bit from the fold to keep things easy), and the shelf bra will keep it…[Read more]

Hi Violet,
There’s a sew along for this pattern on the blog. Perhaps this will help: https://oliverands.com/community/blog/2016/02/gallery-tunic-dress-sew-along.html -

Is it possible you’re trying to attached the wrong side of the armhole facing?
Maybe you could add a picture to help illustrate what’s going wrong

So looking at the enmore, the upper bust sizing puts me at a 10.
Full bust? 18. But no way am I that wide in the shoulders.
So the 10 would be the better fit.. except..
While tons of ease? How much is there for purposes of the more buxom of us?
Also my cup size is more an F/G than a D.
Do I need an FBA on the D cup shelf? Would that…[Read more]

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Shortening to use pockets in the forum liesl + co: cappuccino dress + tunic 2 years ago
Hi Katie,
The front of the Cappuccino dress is a bit tricky as it’s made up of three pattern pieces.
Do you like the current fit and dress length but want to raise the pockets on the dress?
Or do you want to shorten the whole dress? Then the question becomes where? Through the body or at the hem or both?
Sliding the pockets up the dress…[Read more]

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Help needed with shoulder adjustment please in the forum liesl + co: fira dress + top 2 years ago
Hmm, I’m looking at your photos and you’re right; something is pulling the dress back. I’m wondering if it could be the neck neck? Because it’s designed to be quite high I wonder if it’s being forced lower and that’s causing the entire dress to pull back. Let me think about this a little more and if I have any other ideas I’ll tell you. I’ll also…[Read more]

Hi Kanataji, you sound confused! It’s difficult to make suggestions without seeing how the muslin is fitting on you. Is there any way you can post photos?

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Fira dress…please help with yoke instructions in the forum liesl + co: melville cardigan + vest 2 years ago
Hi Wonderly, is this where you are?
4. Keeping the edges of the outer yoke folded, align and pin it to the yoke lining (the unfolded yoke) with right sides together. Stitch the neckline and the sleeve edges with a 1/2″ seam, backstitching or lockstitching at both ends.
5. Trim the stitched seam allowances to 1/4″. Turn the yoke right-side out…[Read more]

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Question on the set-in sleeve in the forum liesl + co: easton cowl-neck tee 2 years ago
Hi there, I’m both the designer and the model in the photos. The two tops are the same size but made from different fabrics. The blue is cotton with spandex and the yellow is rayon with spandex, which drapes more and looks more clingy. In both tops the shoulder actually fits at the shoulder, but I think for the blue top I just didn’t adjust it…[Read more]

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Adding sleeves to the Marais? in the forum liesl + co: marais knit dress + top 2 years ago
I’m in total agreement. Sleeveless styles usually don’t extent out to the shoulder to accomodate a sleeve, so it’s much easier to copy the armhole of a garment with sleeves if you want to add them. Thanks, @lightningmcstitch!

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Adding sleeves to the Marais? in the forum liesl + co: marais knit dress + top 2 years ago
I haven’t sewn the Marais dress (yet) so take the following with a grain of salt, but here’s what I’d do if I wanted to add a sleeve:
Choose the knit pattern that you like the sleeve/armscye of; eg metro T, or the Easton, or the Belgravia dress, etc
Trace both patterns in your size and find the centre front line (it’s the fold line for the metro…[Read more]

Has any one added a sleeves?
Thanks to Building Block I can draft any sleeve style.
But I don’t know if the shape of the armscye is symmetrical front and back. I also don’t know how to draft the right size.
Tips?

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Cuffs flaring out? in the forum liesl + co: all day shirt 3 years ago
I would imagine it has to do with stretching the cuff, but it should return to the correct shape with a little steam and some coaxing!

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Alternate cuffs in the forum liesl + co: gallery tunic + dress 3 years ago
Sure, I would imagine you could use the Classic Shirt or any of our other shirt/blouse patterns with a cuff and with a few adjustments you could have a more traditional cuff if you prefer.

I would suggest taking her measurements and comparing them to our size chart–that’s always the best bet! You can even use our handy free measurement chart to help you!

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Narrowing the trousers leg in the forum oliver + s: art museum 3 years ago
I would do both equally. Remember, even a little bit makes a difference, a 1/4″ off inner and outer will make a full 1″ reduction in circumference.
They’re a relatively slim/straight leg fit anyway. Are you sure you want them narrower? Using a trace and Toile interfacing you can “tissue fit” the pattern. Just sew the one leg pattern pieces front…[Read more] -
Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Pattern pieces for front of jacket – Grainlines not matching. in the forum liesl + co: yanaka jacket 3 years ago
Hi @lillypilly I use Trace and Toile all the time too.
You know what I often find is I accidentally have a piece of tracing upside down, then the grain lines don’t match!
For that reason I always trace the wording on the pattern piece as well -
Nicole replied to the topic Liesl and Co Woodland Cape in the forum liesl + co: woodland stroll cape 3 years ago
It is very roomy @sewrosey61 as it fastens with a side button.
This lovely pattern is my go to as a teacher gift. My last version was sewn for a AUS size 20.
(My tip, attach the button with elastic so it has some ease)
Alternatively, I think you could make a wee tab that has buttons on each end.Good luck!
