First…YAY Team Paper!!! I loathe PDFs and am so happy to be able to buy paper patterns!
I was lucky enough to be a tester for the skirt. I’m only 5’2″ and the skirt is a good length for me. It is a really fun, quick, and easy sew for anyone that is wondering about that. It does feel a little “open” when I wear it. However, I wear a pencil…[Read more]

I wouldn’t even use the buttonholes…I’d just sew the buttons straight through.
Is 11 too old for the seashore sundress? This is what I made for disney. It has been passed on to another little disney fan now. She wears it with a white blouse underneath and it is really…[Read more]

Try vintage patterns on eBay. I adore sewing vintage butterick and simplicity. I go with chest size for sizing and remember they may be very short.

Yep…boy or girl I force my kids outside in that sort of situation.
Even if you don’t have much space…do you have room for a slack-line? We just ordered one…after the kids played on a friend’s last weekend. I’m hopeful it helps wear them out or at the very least keep them busy and out of the trees.
Good luck finding some peace!
And,…[Read more]

I taught two sections of lecture, one of lab, cooked dinner, and finished two pairs of shorts yesterday. I feel like a rockstar!! I love familiar o+s patterns. They take all the guesswork out of the equation! Next up two pairs of shorts for my boy…then I’ll have some wiggle room in the laundry rotation.

Yep! Make them while you can!! My 7 year old told me this morning that she “was only going to wear dresses for special occasions now.” It took all my composure to not react! Acting uninterested is my best bet for it being a short-lived phase. I hope it is!! But the older they get the more they want to dress like everyone else. (Here that…[Read more]

I’ve used this one multiple times and always LOVE it. It holds up great! It does, however, shrink a lot. It needs more than a single pre-wash.

That sounds lovely! Big California families really know how to make a day of it at the parks!
Because of the time of year…the easter bunny always brings a new set of swimmers for each kid in addition to some sort of little toys. And, the requisite candy of course.
We already had our spring break and unfortunately hubby and I had to…[Read more]

I’m thinking of trying this http://www.sewlisette.com/patterns/B6183 lisette top in a Ponte de Roma double knit. Question 1: good or bad idea? Do I need a woven? Question 2: If I use knit do I also use knit for the neck facing?

Does anyone have a favorite Bombay potatoes recipie? Hubby had some at a restaurant that also had chickpeas included. We’ve been trying to reproduce it and had some great dinners but still haven’t found a favorite.

mcholley1 replied to the topic Altering/purchasing RTW denim/pants to fit sway back + sufficient derriere in the forum off topic 9 years ago
My sway back probably not as much as yours, but have the same struggle with rtw pants. I’ve had good luck with Jessica Simpson brand jeans lately. They seem to sit higher and the waistband curves up in the center back. Though, they are miles too long, and I have to hem them if I want to wear them without boots!
