FYI…I dared not share until I bought some spare but the German interfacing is WONDERFUL!
Thanks for the help along the way everyone! Now…of only someone would come hem this beast for me!

My daughter used to prefer front sashes as it is more comfortable when sitting. Like already suggested…I’d make a separate sash, thread chains on sides, and put a safety pin at the bow to keep from sagging.

I’m making a junior bridesmaid dress out of a silk/cotton batiste. It has a tight weave you would expect from a batiste but is thin and slightly sheer. I’m planning to self line it and underline my bodice pieces with this German interfacing.…[Read more]

True story! They were super helpful over the phone, sent me big enough swatches to judge the hand, held my yardage for 24hours while I talked to the bride. It wasn’t my first time doing business with them but certainly my first being so needy!

I’m making a junior bridesmaid dress and bow tie soon and am currently sourcing fabric swatches. I need to match a periwinkle (Pantone 15-3919). Tell me your go-to fabric stores, please! I’ve already done mood and farmhouse fabrics but still feel like I haven’t found “the one” yet.

Thanks for the reassurance. I can’t wait to cut a few more. I felt like I was secretly at work in my pajamas all day. I think I’ve found my winter uniform!

I extended the length of the bento tee to make a dress. I also narrowed the sleeves at the side seams.
1)Is there a better way to narrow the sleeves?
2)Is it possible to do something about these drag lines and maintain the boxy look or am I asking too much?

Thanks for all the great sources! It looks like the fabric store is the best price even with international shipping. Now to decide on weight…

Our summer trip is to Glacier National Park which reads cold nights for my Florida kids. I want to make a few fieldtrip Ragland and leggings in either a merino knit or thin fleece. Does anyone have any favorite sources for high quality technical fabrics online?

I just finished a ‘muslin’ of a blazer to see how it would go. I want to make two for a family wedding and parties in November. I even added a full lining and it was suprisingly straightforward (…even if you weren’t there to hold my hand though the process, Liesl…hint, hint.). There are some straight forward fit issues that I’ll address.…[Read more]

So unfortunatly I’m sewing a non Oliver S pattern. I’m making a blazer. The pattern calls for a half lining but I plan to extend it full length. The lining has a pleat at the top to add ease. My question is do I extend the pleat down to the hem or do I blend it out as it extends down to the hem?
Thanks to anyone that has experience here.

I’d opt for an Ottobre design pattern of you aren’t turned off by tracing and adding seam allowance. They have lots of options in lots of sizes and are well drafted.

What top are you planning with the pants? If the top hangs over the pants you’ll have less pressure getting a perfect fit. I would vote for a sateen for the pants to give them a little structure. A cord would be my second choice.
If you are making the top too…do you have a way to monogram the front? I think an all white sailboat set with a…[Read more]

If you are sewing two sets anyway…why not do a sleepover set in flannel, a pair of flannel shorts, and a field trip interlock top that all coordinate? Over the holidays my kids spend a lot of the early evening and mornings playing in their pajamas. My kids tend to sleep in tshirts but then put their warm flannel sleepover set over when they…[Read more]
