It’s not an option written into the pattern as it requires redrafting the front panels.
You can either make it a single, non overlapping closure with a zipper, or insert a zipper into the underlying facing and keep the buttons over the top.
Deb describes and shows the second option very well on her blog. Link :…[Read more] -

I suspect that those sort of wrinkles indicate too much ‘length’ in that area but that would be flat pattern adjustment and it’s too late for that now. And I could be totally wrong 😃
If you put them on inside out and pinch then pin out the excess fabric into the side seam you should be able to get a good fit. Just be careful to keep your pocket…[Read more] -

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Jacket questions–sizing, underlining in the forum oliver + s: school days 9 years ago
@peggyw all I can suggest is this: Measure the bare chest of the intended kid, then measure again with all the expected underlayers.
Remember, the jacket is sized to have the quilted vest underneath.
If you’d kid will wear a singlet, top, sweater or two, quilted vest and jacket thdn you’ll probably need all that ease.
If you’re making this as a…[Read more] -

Tara @4dfamily98 is he into small adult sizing?
Thread Theory (www.threadtheory.ca) make men’s patterns that tend to be a slimmer “athletic” fit and would probably suit a teenager. They are beautiful patterns and ones that I would rank as “up there with Oliver + S”.
They have just released their button down shirt in paper pattern.

Oh Rachel I love every one of these! I’d be happy to pay postage if you’d consider sending them all this way.

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Metro ladies t shirt cold shoulder adaptation in the forum liesl + co: metro t-shirt 9 years ago
Oooh, what a fun puzzle.
I haven’t made or worn a “cold shoulder” top so I can’t help with where the opening should start.
The notches of the sleeve head might be a bit high? Maybe 1/2″ below that.
I also wonder if you shouldn’t then bring the shoulder – the open edge of the shoulder that is, in a little. A similar adjustment to what you do if…[Read more] -

Ah, ok then. At least now I’m not thinking I’m uneven 😅
I was up early as my 8 year old and I did mass participation bike ride this morning. Great fun! -

…thought about it more. The difference in length is the side seam below the armhole, right? So its certainly going to have s lower back hem.

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Maritime length of front and back in the forum liesl + co: maritime knit top 9 years ago
…you know I wore mine yesterday but I’m not sure where it sat at the hem. If your muslin is even at the hem and you like it then go for it.

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Maritime length of front and back in the forum liesl + co: maritime knit top 9 years ago
No, the hems won’t be even, or maybe I don’t stand straight! 😃
If you pick the top up by its shoulder seams the back will hang lower. I don’t think its a forward shoulder seam, at least not by the length of the hem difference.
I love the St James knits too. I have a few of their ready to wear Mariniere tops and they last forever. -
Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Halloween Trick or Treat bags in the forum off topic 9 years ago
I think it would be fine as is Fiona. Volume wise it’s probably about the same as the pumpkin bucket things you can buy.
And remember, everything is bigger in the states, so by the time your bags arrive there they’ll look normal sized! -

The Building Block T-Shirt Book (not real) is my pet project 😅
I can’t wait to see what I can take from the dress book and do with a School Bus tee.
Here’s a t-shirt modification that never made it to the Oliver + S blog as a tutorial, for reasons that are now obvious! - Load More
