Thanks, @justsewit !That does make sense, and I’ll make sure to post how things turn out after giving it a try. @liesl, I’ve learned so much from your patterns already!

Thanks, @liesl for all you do to encourage sewists and to assist us in learning new skills. -

Thank you @motherof5, @liesl and @justsewit! I would definitely be interested in a blog post including this topic Liesl.
I have started: I cut out the skirt in the print fabric and will get sewing it today. I plan to try come color blocking on the top by using the print for only the front-side panels with the rest of the top pieces solid. (At…[Read more]

@liesl I loved it and the Jumprope is my favourite pattern out of all my sewing patterns, not just O+S.

@liesl — Thank you for your reply. I did end up adding the placket, sleeves etc. and it fits just fine as is, yay! It’s really cute and I may even wear it out (even though it’s made out of a vintage sheet!). I just need to hem it and then it will be done. I am really looking forward to cutting out the pattern in my new Japanese double gauze. I…[Read more]

Thank you, Rachel. I’ll give a try.
@liesl, I don’t see a picture… It’s also dark for me, I also live in Madrid…!
Thanks for your help. I hope I can catch up during the weekend. -

@liesl Thank you so much for your response! There is always so much to learn, and I did not realize that the interfacing should not really change the hand of the fabric. I used a much lighter interfacing (the 906 F I mentioned is a “shear weight”) than my first tunic, but it is definitely still too stiff. I’ve already sewed the side seams up, and…[Read more]

@blacktabi: ohh I also had this same issue with the FBA dart. Luckily I realized while I was doing the FBA on the pattern, so I could just redraw it. Still, it’s my first time doing any of this so let’s see how it comes out.
@liesl, I am sooo sooo excited. Yesterday I managed to catch up on the sewalong, and being my first time sewing anything…[Read more]

It’s really good to hear that we will get to sink our sewing teeth into something with a bit of bite to it. I can see how you’d be frustrated by people wanting simple minimal pattern piece designs Liesl. If they wanted that then really it would be a no pattern piece situation and just make a sarong or something – or do what my daughter does and…[Read more]

@Liesl – have you ever looked at Mood’s denims (they have a physical store in NYC, right)? If so, are they not a good source for the quality you’re looking for?
(full disclosure – I have no idea what high-end denim feels like. I buy inexpensive jeans because I’m hard on them. Still want them to fit better, though!)

@liesl that is very exciting news! I will definitely be ordering this when it released then as my daughter requires one for school – so the umbrella will have to do for the time being.

@liesl, thanks for the information about the twill tape. I got some and will try it. I finally was able to upload a picture of the pattern for the larger size and wanted clarification on how this should be cut. It seems like piece 2 is on the fold and 1 and 3 are not — is that right?
Thank you!

Thank you @liesl Gibson , I will, it was a lot of fun.
My favourite moment was one of the uncles dragging Hugo’s old go-cart up and down the track with passenger after passenger while 30 odd whooping children ran after them, like a noisy parade.
The no gifts/bring a salad worked beautifully. The mix of delicious food was wonderful and we ate the…[Read more]
