How about the Roller Skate dress? Eliminate the elastic waist; it may work for you.

I think the problem with a button placket would be that it will need to cross the waist seam. Since the bodice and waistline are fairly fitted I’m not sure a partial button placket would allow you to get the waist past shoulders or hips.
My very first fairy tale dress was a sheer crinkly fabric which I underlined and then lined. It wasn’t any more…[Read more] -
katybellabug replied to the topic Need thin piping cord. Where to buy? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 9 years ago
I have used blind cord before and that works well. I had some on hand from making roman blinds and it was just the right size.

I can’t say I’ve found knitting patterns across the board to be unreliable, but I do think that there are so many factors that can affect how a project turns out – gauge, needle size, changes in yarn after blocking, etc. It is easy to get an off result. I went through a shawl phase a couple years ago and I found that it was more difficult to get…[Read more]

I am also an obsessive reader of project notes on Revelry before starting something – I usually at least scroll through every picture on the project pages and click on a few. I love it when people leave really detailed notes about finished measurements so I try to do the same with my projects. With shawls I think I have found that I needed to do…[Read more]

I am a frog-er when things don’t go right in knitting. Nice yarn is expensive and I am cheap! It is true, though, that after I frog a project I tend not to want to pick the needles back up for awhile. I always end up going back to it, though. There is something wonderful about knitting, curled up in a chair, with a cup of tea or coffee at your…[Read more]

Masha Richart replied to the topic Which size would you use (4 or 5)? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 9 years ago
I am in the same boat as you! My older girl is actually the length of a 6 but she is still a 2, 3 or 4 in width depending on the pattern. I mostly have the smaller ranges for now although I did buy the larger Playtime recently since she now takes a 4 width for the leggings and I am guessing that 5 won’t be that far off. I am thinking that when…[Read more]

Masha Richart replied to the topic What are you sewing now? in the forum off topic 9 years ago
I have been sewing like crazy the last few days. I made a tiny Geranium dress for my due-in-July niece. That was my first time working with that pattern and I was really bummed when I got to the end and saw that there was no overlap for the buttons, so the skirt sort of bunches underneath them. I had expected something like the Bubble Dress.…[Read more]

You’ve nailed it re the paper situation @todd. First time I asked the local print shop (franchise of a well known chain) they looked blank. Suggested printing sideways on A0 and taping two sheets together.
Second time I asked they recognised existence of 36″ rolls but said they didn’t stock them.
A year later, with new management, they now stock…[Read more] -
Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Need more booty room in the after school pants! in the forum oliver + s: after-school 9 years ago
I read this post just today and I think it might help. It is mostly referring to increasing room in the front crotch but as they say at the end, if you do the same split and spread to the back that works for the back.
I imagine if you create a bit more room at the back there’ll be less strain and pulling down with squatting and bending.
But gee…[Read more] -

@todd that’s fabulous news about the paper size change/addition. now I just have to work out how to split PDF files so that I can put all my large pattern sheets into one file. The local printer has a $15 per job minimum so printing one file would still be too expensive.
far be it for me to pick an argument 🙂 but I’m afraid the list of countries…[Read more]
