Lattemama, City Weekend knits (I’m amazed you still have some!) are an interlock, which isn’t fantastic for recovery but would certainly work. They’ll get a little baggy in the knees, yes. If you’re looking for good recovery, jersey is better and jersey with a tiny bit of lycra is best. So maybe save the City Weekend for the tunic or dress instead?

Would the City Weekend knits be suitable for leggings? I was hoping to make them out of something that won’t sag at the knees. How is the recovery on that fabric?

How about a thread to post links to something we are particularly proud of?
I love links as I find the new Flickr quite hard to load with my country internet.
I am happy to go first.

Keep in mind that 25% stretch is not very much! Cotton jersey will work just fine. Something with a TINY bit of lycra/spandex will have better recovery, but you don’t want a power stretch. We’re not making swimsuits here! I made S’s leggings with ordinary cotton jersey, so don’t worry too much about getting fancy with these. Dry Goods had a nice…[Read more]

Can you post a photo? Is it possible you need to cut into the seam allowance a bit more frequently to release the seam and allow it to turn out fully?

If you were sewing with a super fine fabric it may work but there are a lot of seams and the front and back yoke are not lined.
I made a Family Reunion dress, for a sweet friend who adores a perfect inside finish, and I used french seams for the sides and then bound the arm hole sleeve. Personally, I felt that looked a little ‘stiff’ and that was…[Read more] -

I think a knit would be lovely but I would use a woven for the neck facing to keep it in place.

Disclaimer-have not made this pattern yet!
If they are basting stitches,I would remove them when completed.

Yes,you do have to join them together.
That is pretty standard with PDF’s.
Something like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/8508925824/in/photostream (Not an o+s,blush)
I swop internet time with my son if he puts them together for me.

Sarvi is correct – I put some in a Sunday Brunch Jacket. I don’t know how this applies to the School Days coat because I haven’t sewed it yet, but I sewed the magnetic snaps through both layers of facing and jacket fabric. I then just sewed the buttons on top through only the jacket fabric solely for their decorative effect.
