Absolutely @jesims.
I have a tute here http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2012/03/quick-bedtime-story-tutorial.html so you can see the construction.I would leave off the sleeve, add a flutter and bind the arm sleeve.
Best of luck to wee P.

Do you think it would be possible to change the sleeve to a flutter sleeve?
P is having her tonsils out and I wanted to make her a comfy pair of PJ’s to wear afterwards. She can be quite sensitive about fit and fabrics w/o having undergone surgery. I think she might be more comfortable w/ a flutter sleeve than the traditional kimono…[Read more]

It was a good as you said it would be @lisamm.
Marilyn was tiny!
She looked to be so curvaceous in her movies but it must have been her tiny waist over emphasising her bust and hips.
Tildy was enthralled with the movie clips, Hugo devoured all the written memorabilia and Liddy, Zara and Elsie swooned over the clothes.
I was amazed at how…[Read more]

I watched it all the way through and may actually go back and re-watch from the beginning. I must say, I feel like some of the sewing was not as good as it has been in previous years. Just my opinion! To me, there was no clear front-runner. Definitely, I was kind of surprised at the outcome – my daughter actually screamed “Nooooooo” when her…[Read more]

Is there a particular Lisette fabric you’re looking for? I’m not sure if you’re looking for the ones sold originally at JoAnn Fabric, which I think are out of stock, or the most recent collection, Woodland Clearing, which is not part of the Lisette line (but in my opinion has a nicer feel to it, I have tried both).
If it were me, I would do my…[Read more]

I reckon I could find you a hot pink zipper!
Worth an enquiry to these guys http://www.lzf.com.au/ as they have a huge range and will cut to required length etc. I’ve used them for single zips before.
(otherwise, my answer to your question would be black. White would be very 1980s and grey a bit reminiscent of a Galah :)) -

I just took my kids out to my parents in the country for a couple of nights while it’s school holidays and we’re working.
The five year old was busy all morning writing notes and letters for her grandparents to give them when she got there. All notes started with “dear grand… and grand…” And finished with “love from A… by A…”
In the middle…[Read more] -

Very cute Fee.
I am deep in the depths of sequins, tulle and satin… formal dress sewing. It is going surprisingly well and I am enjoying it.
I did take a break (dress requires fitting and daughter is on work experience at a wild life park) so I made a sneaky School Bus tee for Tildy from some gorgeous Merino knit. I added little elbow patches…[Read more]

Oh dear @dubhels2003, I know what you mean but still very cute!
My little Trix finished her sleepy 5am feed in our bed, smiled said ‘choc-late’ and went back to sleep.

Rachel Le Grand replied to the topic Quilted jacket in the forum oliver + s: lullaby 8 years ago
@libloucks, there is definitely more than one way to make the quilted jacket, but here is what I did… First I made the quilted fabric with 3 layers: fabric, batting, fabric. Then I cut out the pattern pieces. I cannot remember if I used organic cotton batting or white fleece for that particular piece. Quilting the fabrics first did change a…[Read more]

The link is perfect @libloucks took me straight there. Might look different to you as you’re logged in and your post may appear differently.
I’ll put my five cents worth in before Rachel answers…
If you used one layer quilting cotton and one layer of bamboo or cotton wadding then I think it would sew up fine and not be too bulky.
Alternately,…[Read more] -
Sarvi replied to the topic Sizing/fit for the blouse in the forum oliver + s: butterfly blouse + skirt 8 years ago
It’s not a narrow fit, and I think the style of the cut is pretty forgiving. Maybe add a bit to the blouse and a bit to the peplum? I made a 5 for my daughter who’s gotten to be a 6 in height but still a 5 in circumference, and the blouse looks just as nice now, I think.

Sarvi replied to the topic Adjustment advice in the forum liesl + co: cinema dress 8 years ago
I think this dress would be lovely in wool, but bear in mind that it is unlined, for one, and a long full dress, too. You’d want to select your wool carefully to be sure it felt nice against your skin, and the dress didn’t feel too heavy or stiff.

Hi, when I shortened the yoke on mine, I removed one inch from the bottom edge of the yoke, and raised the center skirt by a corresponding one inch. To remove fullness I would narrow the center skirt by moving the pattern piece past the fold, so the left and right edges were the same, but there was less width. I’m not sure if that’s the kind of…[Read more]

What is a ‘lounge set’ for children? I am supposed to make one by Friday, but not sure I have ever seen a 6 year old lounge.
