beachmom replied to the topic Unwanted Fabric. What to do? in the forum off topic 9 years ago
I used to shop unwanted fabric around…asking sewing friends if they were interested, offering it to schools, posting it on freecycle and/or craigslist. But it involved a lot of effort and when I’m ready to get rid of something, I want it gone. Now I drop it off at our local thrift shop.;)

Oh No! I’m so sorry that you all are having to deal with this, especially with a new baby at home. You, your husband, and the kids are in my thoughts and prayers. (((Hugs)))

beachmom replied to the topic What do you think? Feedback welcome. in the forum Sewing for Yourself 9 years ago

The Gallery top looks like it would be the perfect top (made in a voile or gauze) to throw on over a tank top or camisole for the slightly cooler summer nights at the beach. I probably won’t make it as a dress as I like my dresses to be more…[Read more]

beachmom replied to the topic How thin is too thin for knits? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 9 years ago
I’m like Masha…I prefer cotton/lycra knits when I sew for the kids. It’s relatively easy to work with and seems to hold up well. My personal rule of thumb is to use 8-10 oz. weight fabrics for tops and dresses. 🙂

This is a fun thread! Thanks for starting it, Nicole.:)
Hands down, the most worn O+S item in our house:

Thanks, Todd! It was a huge challenge but I did get it finished…finally. If I’d known that there was an upcoming Lisette moto jacket pattern coming I would have waited for that!! Ah well, I suppose I can always make one for me.;)

I’d been thinking that I’d love the little girls to have smocked dresses for Easter. Not sure if they will ‘approve’ or not. They seem to have grown up on me overnight!
I want to say that BK’s baptism gown was made using the Twinkle Toes pattern…I’ll have to double check next time I’m at my mom’s.;)

I’m tackling a fake leather moto jacket for my teenage daughter. This is the most complicated pattern I’ve ever sewn…I hope it turns out nice!

Justine-We finally convinced BK to give up her special blanket (Yellow) as it was about to start falling apart. I’ve washed it and put it away in her keepsake box. I think I’m more sad than she is…she was my only kid with a special lovey.
I’m partway through a clever Charlotte orchid blouse for my middle girl. And I had a special request to…[Read more]
