Oh, yes, a larger hat pattern please (including adult sizes!)

Nicole replied to the topic Underlining? in the forum oliver + s: secret agent 9 years ago
Wow, that is a lot of work but looks amazing! I am sure that would work.
I am not a fan of binding seams (I love the look just find it a bit tedious) I would wonder about flannel for the main and something silky for the sleeves?
But I am sure the underlining would work really well.

I would love a larger size hat pattern. My offspring have gi-normous heads.

I lined a Secret Agent trench very successfully and it had a lot more wear then the unlined versions.
I touch on it in this post http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2013/03/elsas-turn-again-lining-unlined-blazer.html
It is not a ‘proper’ method, but it worked well and the jacket has been handed down and still getting a lot of…[Read more] -

Is it too early to be clamoring for the spring sewing patterns? Anyone have any thoughts on what they may be? I’m still holding out hope for a dressy blazer but I know there are two big strikes against it; 1. Boy 2. Higher difficulty level. A mama can still hope right? ๐

Justine J replied to the topic what can I make for myself with a yard of 60" velvet? in the forum off topic 9 years ago
Honestly, I’d make a skirt with it rather than a top, and 1 yd is heaps for a skirt. The Everyday skirt would look great, and I have used velvet to make several MIP A+ skirts. (I love wearing them – but have to stop myself stroking the fabric in public!)

Lurve that Knight Hoodie, Hugo wants one!
I look forward to your reveal Shelley.
I finished up the knit Music Class blouse and Lunch Box culottes for Liddy, for a sneaky school uniform. She is very pleased and gave the culottes two thumbs up.
Next up, Hugo’s turn as the Twins doubled up last time. The Thread Theory Pea Coat in charcoal…[Read more]

Hi Renee, pleased to ‘meet’ you!
๐I completely agree about the lack of stylish little girls clothing in the RTW market. I am have a blast dressing my littlest two girls (the older ones are nice too but the little ones still wear whatever I like).
I also agree that the patterns are failsafe, which is so nice when we are all far too busy to…[Read more]

You *can* absolutely, but it can be a little rougher in texture so if your child has sensory issues, perhaps check that first?
Check your width too, make sure it is not too narrow or it is just horrid to attach.
You are right Lucy, it is a lot quicker. ๐

I am with Heidi on this one. This is a dress that will look okay a bit big, particularly if you have a bow to cinch it in at the waist, it also looks very pretty swinging a little free.
You sound as if you really want to make it? So make it in the 2T and it will fit, at some point. You can always add a largish hem too.

I would use the larger size if you really don’t want to try and merge 2 sizes, however if you’re willing to try it’s not to hard.
I would trace the 18-24 size through the shoulder, neckline and half way down the armhole. Where all the armhole lines cross over I would change to tracing the size 2T for the rest of the bodice. I think this would…[Read more] -

I wonder if it’s more of a shape issue than a size issue — would leaving the darts unsewn on the 18-24 leave enough belly room while still fitting nicely around the shoulders? I don’t recall whether the 18m size has the waist darts? Unfortunately it’s hard to predict how much a kid that age will grow in four months, but I can understand wanting…[Read more]

justsewit replied to the topic Using Tucks in O+S Patterns in the forum Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 9 years ago
I would say that you wouldn’t actually fold the fabric as per you would ordinarily to get the result because the tucks moght end up a bit off. Would trace the pattern on the fold but not cut it on the fold in order to get the full piece and then work from there to determine where to put my tucks.
This is just how I would do it.
