So I finished the bear carrier and messenger bag. They were a hit (I think) even though the carrier has been balked at a few times. She was willing to try it for size when I was positioning buttons.
The messenger bag has been well received. All baby doll stuff was dumped on the table and the bag promptly filled with toy trains (anyone want toy…[Read more]

How about sizing up and then making a blouse or top to wear under it?

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Seashore with sleeves and snaps , is it possible in the forum oliver + s: seashore 6 years ago
Florence, given the opening at the shoulder/neckline, I can’t see any way to include sleeves without some serious innovations. But if you can figure out how to do it I’d love to see what you do!

I haven’t done it, but it would be similar to the process of sewing View B of the Sleepover Pajamas with the ruffles. Not difficult at all, just decide where you want the ruffles and make your ruffles about twice as long as the area where you want to add them.

Sure, you could easily swap the buttons for snaps, no problem. I don’t know how you’d add sleeves, however. I’d suggest wearing a long-sleeved shirt underneath instead.

The only one I know of was Beachmom’s but she is private now.
I have sent her an email but she works full time so it may not be possible for her to share.
I will see what I can do.

Hi Becca.
If your bust puts you in a 10, draft the size 10.
Does the pattern have lengthen/shorten lines? I have made it but can’t remember…I am 5’3″ and I added a few inches to the hem (but I wanted a deep, weighty hem). The pattern has a slight A-line so if you want to accentuate that, add to the hem. If you don’t want that add to the…[Read more]

I made the 3/4 sleeves and I don’t think it would be hard to make them longer.
I would just continue the angle, perhaps have a RTW coat that you like the sleeve width nearby, for reference. Just angle out again (mirror the angle) to allow turning and hemming.

I did have plans to sew everyone something for Christmas but I was woefully under prepared with supplies so I didn’t. However, we have a third birthday fast approaching (on Saturday to be exact) and I am sewing up a storm for this. I have three dresses from a different pattern company I have made, two of which are accompanied by dolly sized m…[Read more]

Oh, you have twins too @florencetaylor, how lovely!
What a lovely lot of sewing you have to do, I miss sewing pretty wee dresses.
Half way there now, I am not sure I will get it all done. I will probably leave Jed’s shirt (for later) he doesn’t mind.
@lightningmcstitch that mat is amazing, what an incredible gift.

I was just admiring the fabrics at The Draper’s Daughter yesterday. Karen has a great eye and only selects really beautiful prints and patterns. It’s all very high quality, too. https://drapersdaughter.com/
