For the most case, it won’t matter if you cut the straps with the grain or across the fabric.
I made some silk ties for a dress once and cut one with and one across and the one across stretched a little.
I shouldn’t think you would have a problem with most fabrics you would use for the bear carrier.

Pippi, that tape used to finish the neckline is really for aesthetic reasons–to cover the merrow/serger stitching. I suppose it might also stabilize the neck a bit too, but the fabric itself is mostly responsible for the neckline. Now I have to re-look at them….I think the couture sewing techniques will really teach me more than the basics, but I don’t wear dresses ever (jeans and t-shirts for me!). The knit t-shirt one looks good, but I can’t imagine 9 lessons to make a t-shirt….but, that’s something I may actually make myself and wear. Thanks guys for your opinions!

I’d love to help Janice – but I have yet to watch any of the Craftsy classes I have!

I have made size 2t and size 8 and there was a little ‘creepage’ that needed to be trimmed but I put that down to possibly sewing inaccurate seams and the slippery cord I was using.

Tamara, shipping from (and to) the US will be the death of my checking account. I made burp cloths for a friend in the US and they weighed 500 g (1 lbs-ish) and it cost $19!

Lattemama, City Weekend knits (I’m amazed you still have some!) are an interlock, which isn’t fantastic for recovery but would certainly work. They’ll get a little baggy in the knees, yes. If you’re looking for good recovery, jersey is better and jersey with a tiny bit of lycra is best. So maybe save the City Weekend for the tunic or dress instead?
