Someone with more experience than me is going to answer you I’m sure. View A is not the easiest pattern to adjust because of the 2 layers, but it can be done. View B might be easier. I think you need to start at a 4, do an FBA and grade out the bottom of the pattern to a size 16. Try on the muslin and make your second round of adjustments from…[Read more]

Hi There, sometimes it’s better to go by measurements rather than cup size. Measure your full bust and your high bust. Look at the difference between the 2 numbers. If it’s more than 2 1/2″ you may want to do an FBA.

Liesl and co patterns should match your ready to wear size. Other patterns may not. Here’s the blog post from Liesl about sizing….

Robin replied to the topic FBA bust darts on Gallery Tunic in the forum liesl + co: gallery tunic + dress 10 years ago
Hi Sarvi, I like to end my darts about an 1″ to 1 1/2″ from my apex. I think the larger your bust the further back you end the dart.

Baby Nicholas was born yesterday early in the morning! Labor was not easy (is it ever?) but luckily it was complication-free and everyone is doing well. I’m itching to start sewing clothes for myself but that will have to wait a week or so … for now I’m lying in bed with my new snook and being catered to 🙂

Three years ago: Sisters at 1.5 and 2.5 years in Ice Cream tops.

Last summer: Nearly 4 and nearly 5 in mash-up flower girls dresses using Bubble and Music Box patterns.

Here’s an old photo of Julia in her first year of pre-school….and a recent one in a lovely dress made by Sarvi!
My daughter too is in her last year at her current Montessori school and heading off to the big bad world of public schools in the fall!

I’d like to make my next Gallery tunic a sleeveless version. The last time I left the sleeves off of a shirt pattern (not a Liesl + Co), it ended up being too tight in the underarm area. Any tips to avoid this? Maybe it was just that pattern, but thought I’d ask here to see what you all had to say! Thanks 🙂

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Plaid match up in the forum oliver + s: forest path 10 years ago
There are three places it would be nice to have plaid match, but unless you alter the pattern or are very lucky you’ll probably only manage two out of three.
The 3 areas are: Horizontally across the two front panels. That is to say, if you follow a line of plaid across the body from left to right it should match.
2: Vertically across the front…[Read more] -
Robin replied to the topic FBA for Maritime — how important? in the forum liesl + co: maritime knit top 10 years ago
Hi Sarvi, I’ve made this top twice now in knit and done some kind of FBA each time. But I add 1 1/4″, not 3/4″. I did a traditional FBA, but because of the drape of the knit, the dart ended up under my bust.
That didn’t answer your question. I think it depends on how stretchy your knit is. It’s a fun sew, reminds me of the sailboat top.
