Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Firefly Jacket Question in the forum oliver + s: firefly 8 years ago
Apologies for the silence, @dids! I’m traveling, with limited access to my computer. If I recall correctly, you attach the elastic to both front edges of only the fabric A jacket. So right side and left side. Does that make sense? I hope it helps.

The dress looks awesome @caraskates. I’m assuming the embroidery was done by machine?

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic your wish list in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 8 years ago
Ok, sewists, I need your help! I’m ready to send out testing packages for our next Liesl + Co patterns, and I’m looking for two specific sizes:
I need someone who wears a C-cup (2″ different between your high bust and full bust) for a shirt pattern.
I’m also looking for someone who wears a size 16, 18, or 20 to test a shorts and a skirt pattern.…[Read more]

Sarvi replied to the topic Patchwork block drawstring bag in the forum oliver + s: little things to sew 8 years ago
That’s a great idea! I do seem to always have a few extra blocks lying around and don’t know what to do with them, even though I’m not a big quilter. And after my daughter’s recent birthday, I felt just awful about the enormous pile of gift wrap we recycled. A nice reusable gift bag is much better!

There is an errata notice for that pattern that might address this issue:
Errata
In the first printing of this pattern there was a minor error in the instructions. In the second column on page 4, the bottom two illustrations have the fabric right side-fabric wrong side shading reversed. Where you see the fabric right side illustrated,… -

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Jacket questions–sizing, underlining in the forum oliver + s: school days 8 years ago
@peggyw all I can suggest is this: Measure the bare chest of the intended kid, then measure again with all the expected underlayers.
Remember, the jacket is sized to have the quilted vest underneath.
If you’d kid will wear a singlet, top, sweater or two, quilted vest and jacket thdn you’ll probably need all that ease.
If you’re making this as a…[Read more] -

Fabulous! I love those St James knits and it’s so good you can buy them by the metre.

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Playtime leggins, what size to make? in the forum oliver + s: playtime 8 years ago
Yeah, you might even want to measure the pattern at various spots and compare the measurements to spots on his legs if you don’t want them to be tight. Since everyone is built differently, it will also depend on how muscular or thin his legs are.

Tamara replied to the topic Playtime leggins, what size to make? in the forum oliver + s: playtime 8 years ago
Hi Sharon
I was just looking at the body measurement chart and if your son has a 25″ waist then he would fit into a size 12. I have only made the smaller sizes and for a little girl (of course because my son doesn’t ask for creative ideas for costumes). They are true to size I think and so if you were to pick between an 8 or 10 I would certainly…[Read more]

Tamara replied to the topic Metro ladies t shirt cold shoulder adaptation in the forum liesl + co: metro t-shirt 8 years ago
@reeni Thanks. My daughter drew me a picture of what she wanted and the Metro will fit the bill for what she wants. However, you could do the raglan and I actually (when I was looking for inspriation) looked at the carousel dress design lines to see how this would work. I am seeing cold shoulder tops that are fitted t shirts and also strappy tops…[Read more]

Tara @4dfamily98 is he into small adult sizing?
Thread Theory (www.threadtheory.ca) make men’s patterns that tend to be a slimmer “athletic” fit and would probably suit a teenager. They are beautiful patterns and ones that I would rank as “up there with Oliver + S”.
They have just released their button down shirt in paper pattern.
