Oh this is just too sweet!! What a gorgeous doll! I love that she’s got brown eyes. F.
I used shoe laces that I found in Lincraft to thread thru a casing in a kidlet vest; the way the shoe lace is sealed at the end made it very easy to thread/tie the ‘toggle’ on the end, and it copes better with being washed becase hasn’t frayed – so far. -

Oh yes, I can totally picture that — so instead the bias trim going ‘over the edge’ as it does now, the raw edge would be turned in — that is doable. I will try it out!

Nicole replied to the topic French Seams & Fairy Tale in the forum oliver + s: fairy tale 11 years ago
I have made it twice Florabell.
The only concern I would have is the bulk of the seams. If you use a fine fabric and grade the seam properly if would be fine. As the bodice is fully lined, I don’t know that you would actually need to.
We have a few girls that love their French seam finishes. I am sure they would have something helpful to add. -

As a sewist dilligently trying to use up stashed fabric, I often use Fat Quarters for pockets, (one FQ is just the right size to cut 4 pocket pieces for the Playtime, and similar patterns), and in particular, for lining bodices, and yokes. The last 3 outfits posted on Flickr are definitely cases in point – especially the Playsuit. The pants were a…[Read more]

I cut a PlayTime dress size 2T with the length of a size 4 from 1 metre of Kokka linen. AND it was a directional print.
*BUT I had to cut the pockets from another fabric.* -

I made a suede version for Tildy and used brass drizabone studs.
I washed that quite a few times in the machine (on a wool wash with shampoo and conditioner) and the suede is still in good repair. -

Excited — just ordered blue and metallic (they look like the best match for grey) snaps. So many babies to sew for, can’t wait to get my groove on once I know all the preferences from the moms.

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Plus sizes? in the forum liesl + co: cappuccino dress + tunic 11 years ago
Oh yes, we’d love to add plus sizes to our patterns! It’s one of my goals for 2014. Unfortunately, it’s not a simple process and requires development of entirely new patterns, along with separate grading, testing, etc. We can’t simply grade the existing patterns up to make more sizes–it’s really like starting from scratch. And with my plate as…[Read more]

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Just wondering: eliminating back seam? in the forum liesl + co: cappuccino dress + tunic 11 years ago
Yes, you can absolutely remove the back seam! We added in rather late in the process because 1) it gives a little more shaping and 2) it allows you to use less fabric because you don’t need to cut on the fold. But by all means, change it! Our first samples were cut on fold and worked just fine. I prefer it without the seam, too, but fabric economy…[Read more]

My husband made a valid point, just hitch ’em up when they are wearing disposables.

I am sorry Alison, I worded that badly.
I do add length to the top of the waist band, often I size up. So, yes, I add length.
I am sorry, that was all me! -
