I’m working my magic with fabric,
Of a colour described as “dab brick”
    It’s not easy to sew
    So I’m taking it slow
    Afterall, it is only cambric!

(Sorry @lightningmcstitch I felt compelled to challenge everyone unnecessarily😀)

I’ve just made a long journey home

(A bit easier for you I hope)

The wintry sun is still shining
After rain that has had the gauge climbing
But the wind is so cold!
    If I weren’t so old
Then I’d be outside wining and dining!

  • I just took my kids out to my parents in the country for a couple of nights while it’s school holidays and we’re working.
The five year old was busy all morning writing notes and letters for her grandparents to give them when she got there. All notes started with “dear grand… and grand…” And finished with “love from A… by A…”
    In the middle…[Read more]

    Very cute Fee.

I am deep in the depths of sequins, tulle and satin… formal dress sewing. It is going surprisingly well and I am enjoying it.

I did take a break (dress requires fitting and daughter is on work experience at a wild life park) so I made a sneaky School Bus tee for Tildy from some gorgeous Merino knit. I added little elbow patches…[Read more]

  • Brilliant, I love a good up-cycle and that is a very good one.

Oh dear @dubhels2003, I know what you mean but still very cute!

My little Trix finished her sleepy 5am feed in our bed, smiled said ‘choc-late’ and went back to sleep.

  • The link is perfect @libloucks took me straight there. Might look different to you as you’re logged in and your post may appear differently.
I’ll put my five cents worth in before Rachel answers…
If you used one layer quilting cotton and one layer of bamboo or cotton wadding then I think it would sew up fine and not be too bulky.
    Alternately,…[Read more]

  • Hi @creativerose Rosie, I would suspect it may stop at a size 2t but I really can’t be sure as I am sewing Oliver and s for a baby for the first time (my other two are much older).

Alot of ladies just size up, especially if they use the flannelette variety. You could always do this and that would entitle you to pants/ bottoms that would fit well…[Read more]

  • It’s not a narrow fit, and I think the style of the cut is pretty forgiving. Maybe add a bit to the blouse and a bit to the peplum? I made a 5 for my daughter who’s gotten to be a 6 in height but still a 5 in circumference, and the blouse looks just as nice now, I think.

I googled loungewear @sarvi and all I got were pyjamas?!

  • Tamara replied to the topic What are you sewing now? in the forum off topic 8 years ago

Oh @Sarvi you have brightened my day and my migraine is almost gone! I’m afraid I have no clue🙁 Would it be like leisure wear?

Yesterday I cut out two music class blouses amd started on one of them last night. They are both of brushed cotton but one is floral and the other plan.

This morning I plan to finish off the music box dress I made…[Read more]

  • 😅 if ever there’s a six year old who could “lounge” it’s yours Sarvi!

  • Sarvi replied to the topic Adjustment advice in the forum liesl + co: cinema dress 8 years ago

I think this dress would be lovely in wool, but bear in mind that it is unlined, for one, and a long full dress, too. You’d want to select your wool carefully to be sure it felt nice against your skin, and the dress didn’t feel too heavy or stiff.

Hi, when I shortened the yoke on mine, I removed one inch from the bottom edge of the yoke, and raised the center skirt by a corresponding one inch. To remove fullness I would narrow the center skirt by moving the pattern piece past the fold, so the left and right edges were the same, but there was less width. I’m not sure if that’s the kind of…[Read more]

What is a ‘lounge set’ for children? I am supposed to make one by Friday, but not sure I have ever seen a 6 year old lounge.

  • @todd if sewing for you means I “have to” take a trip to Spain for fittings then yes, I will volunteer. Can’t make any promises about the quality of my work, post-sangria. Might find my husband and daughter suddenly making themselves invaluable as tracers of patterns and stitchers of buttons.

I’m another no-intentional-bra-strapper, and while I keep meaning to buy a different style of bra that will allow me to wear a racerback style (which I actually find very comfortable as well as liking how it looks) I somehow have never gotten around to it, which probably reveals something.
