I find if I carefully stretch the main to match the binding, just a bee’s whisker mind, there are less puckers.

I would slash and spread along the middle of the buttock and mark the point on the facing adding the same amount to that.

I have just made up a pair of size 10 picnic shorts and after trying them on her, they are a little snug around the bottom.
Otherwise the fit is fine.
I made them from a stretch woven but it still too tight.

Oh, thank you Todd!! Well, last night, I took matters into my own hands, and using the Sketchbook pocket and facing pieces, I added pockets to the Butterfly Skirt.
