    Thank you!

I wish I could knit, I don’t at all but I do know how long it takes.

In January, I finished my youngest’s quilt (I am so not a quilter. I thought I was going to lose my mind putting that thing together!)

And knit him up a dragon scarf to keep him warm:

He’s been on the receiving end quite a bit lately. Which is about to change, so I hope he enjoyed it, lol

Oh wow, that quilt is stunning!

Download is so slow its ridiculous. I managed one picture but the rest are “still waiting”. The quilt is fantastic. I take it you machine pieced it? I love the two colour monochromatic look. Did you buy it as a kit or source the fabric as per pattern? I want to do the Farmer’s wife quilt – one day when I buy the book!

Jennigirl, that quilt is beautiful and should last through many years with the colour scheme 🙂 I like the dragon too!

I’m very happy with the feet ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/73669617@N07/13236409083/in/photostream/ ) and mittens ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/73669617@N07/13236369515/in/photostream/ ) on the big kid onsie I just made 🙂 The mittens were adapted from the ones in LTTS.

The quilt is beautiful, Jenni! And I’m drooling over what I can see of his room; those wide moldings, wood floor and fireplace mantel!

Sarvi, those cardigans are absolutely gorgeous! I have never tried my hand at knitting anything. I learned how to do the basic stitch (garter?) a few years ago but have been too timid to try to make clothing. The patterns look like greek to me.

The quilt is made from Kona cotton black & cream. Each block is a different 12″ block that I found free patterns to online, and yes, I machine pieced it. I didn’t quilt it (too fed up and inpatient at that point), instead it’s tied.

A kit probably would have been easier, I am sure, but floral patterns aren’t really the Little Bear’s thing. I had bought story book train themed 12″ quilt panels from a quilt shoppe to make the quilt with, but then decided against them. It sort of became a monster with a mind of it’s own that left me sewing chains of 4 1/4″ squares together to trim the edges, so that I wouldn’t have to make any more blocks.

I will be the first to admit that I can draft patterns, design corsets, figure hem lengths, and alter patterns all day long, but quilt top making if for those with far more will power than me. The moral of the story? I am not a quilter.

I’m sure the last 6 generations of quilt making women in my family are rolling in their graves and wailing in protest at my lack of quilt making love. At least I have their quilts to wrap myself up in (one was made by my great great grandmother, who Jessie James held hostage on her family’s farm when she was a girl in Northeastern Kansas!). Someday, remind me, & I will photograph the 3 most amazing quilts to share. One is a rainbow starburst that my late maternal grandmother made for me when I was graduating highschool, that will make the tradionalists and the modernists both sigh in delight 😉

I finally made my second version of the Weekend Getaway in a “difficult”* to handle fabric. https://www.flickr.com/photos/79480359@N03/13509391674/

    * that may not have been the only word I used to describe this fabric whilst sewing it.

    Killed a few fairies Shelley?

Its amazing, you did such a good job and you look fabulous.

Thanks. I recently swore off quilting cottons and decided not to purchase any more and use up what I have for bias bindings etc, but I can really see their appeal now!

Late afternoon light and a pair of heels will always help with the fabulousness!

I made the same vow about quilting cotton Shelley. But Sophie really wanted a dress out of a novelty print. I have to say, it is so easy to sew with. Certainly doesn’t fit with my esthetic, but she loves it.

I think we all have a dirty little quilting cotton secret.

Total boasting, Tilly is wearing her new Garden Party dress today and got chased down the passage at the Orthodontist’s office by a lady that wanted to buy her dress.

I declined to make my daughter wear knickers and a singlet for the rest of the day but it was a lovely compliment.

    HA! I love that Nicole!

When Korra was especially small, she had the cutest little pair of handmade crazy quilt Christmas jeans (hard to explain, but tre adorable). We were in Pittsburgh in a large upscale mall, and found ourselves alone in an elevator with a woman who offered to buy the tiny pair of jeans. She was insistent, and a little frightening, but we still laugh about it.
