I have made size 2t and size 8 and there was a little ‘creepage’ that needed to be trimmed but I put that down to possibly sewing inaccurate seams and the slippery cord I was using.

No idea why it couldn’t be used in any machine, but then I’m still baffled after a Janome dealer told me I couldn’t use metal bobbins in my machine….. I do, and I can…..

Can you post a photo? Is it possible you need to cut into the seam allowance a bit more frequently to release the seam and allow it to turn out fully?

I thought about this as I made one just recently. I think it would simply get too thick at the side where the two front (or two back) panels are joined, and then sewn into a frenched side seam. It would have to be very light weight fabric as Nicole said.

Thanks everyone. I think I probably do need to play with the tension a bit as sometimes the bobbin thread looks a bit straight and isn’t zigzagging between the top threads enough. after all that’s what gives the stitch its stretch, right?

If you were sewing with a super fine fabric it may work but there are a lot of seams and the front and back yoke are not lined.

Unless it is a formal or paid garment I pin and sew slowly.

You can add piping just about anywhere. It is mostly seen on collars but yes you can certainly add it to cuffs and the facing of your pj top.
This is what I do to sew it on (and yes I have a piping foot). Firstly with such a large length as the facing, I pin the piping to the edge I want to stitch it on to. Then I go along with a normal sized…[Read more]

This may sound daft (but I’ve done it), are you sure you haven’t rotated the bottom pants piece by 90degrees…..

I used pinwale from Spotlight Heidi. It will turn out about the same weight as if using drill so not a winter coat for warmth but it will still look great.
