If anyone lives in New England there is a destash fabric and yarn sale, this weekend, at White River Yarns in White River Junction, VT. Liesl and co patterns should match your ready to wear size. Other patterns may not. Here’s the blog post from Liesl about sizing….

On other patterns, I sort of eye ball it and see where it works best (i.e. won’t alter the shape too much).

I would love to know if there is a rule of thumb. The last few vintage patterns I have sewn tell you to ‘lengthen above this line’.

I don’t have a pattern number for you but I have had success making casual pull on trousers from pj’s bottoms patterns.
You will need to add pockets and there looks to be a boot leg type thing going on, so maybe a teen style range?
