Oh no @thejennigirl, it is funny to read but not so funny to deal with, I am sure.
I finished a hooded top for my daughter and now I am on to a denim skirt.
My baby girl loves the outside so I am not getting as much sewing done, my garden looks lovely though 😉

You posted just right @thesimpson5.
Just a wee tip, if you are short on fabric, you *can* cut the tie in three pieces. The back neck section on bias so it fits nicely and the tie sections on straight of grain. It is a bit fiddly but saves a lot of fabric if you are pushing things.…[Read more]

@liesl I loved it and the Jumprope is my favourite pattern out of all my sewing patterns, not just O+S.

I have finished my daughter, Elsa, turn on my #sewingrota http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2016/03/elsa-round-up.html and now I am onto Zara, her twin.
Today I started a knit jacket with welt pockets. The instructions were very scant so I pulled out my Art Museum pattern.

Is the fabric plain or patterned? Can you add add a small front strip panel, just a cm or so, to join the front pieces?
Or can you sew the selvedges together?

Hi @willknitformath I would think you have safely got enough fabric for the size 3T depending on how much length you add.
There was a gorgeous multi fabric Jumprope made a few years back, I will see if I can find it in the pool.
For me, I would consider a white collar and placket to complement the different fabrics.
It will eliminate pattern…[Read more] -

i don’t make underwear (yet!) but i have had these same thoughts when i find nice jersey or cotton prints. But I do sew quite a few stretchy things for my daughter who dances, and plan on making a few swim things for use this summer. I’ve used Jalie and their patterns are well-designed, and come in a very wide size range for the price; don’t…[Read more]

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Narrowing the body and sleeves in the forum oliver + s: school bus t-shirt 8 years ago
To achieve that, I would cut the exact same size again, but sew the side/sleeve seam with a bigger seam allowance.
An extra 1/4″ seam allowance will take 1/2 an inch off the sleeve circumference and a full inch off the chest/body.
Saves on retracing the pattern in another size. -
Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Adding a waistband in the forum oliver + s: field trip 8 years ago
Rather than using a different pattern, why not just cut two versions of the facing.
You’ll have a waistband with a top seam, but that can be a nice feature and help prevent elastic rolling.
Or, trim the seam allowance off the top edge of the facing piece then cut it with the length on the fold. That way you avoid the seam at the top.
Either way,…[Read more] -

I can’t make my husband t-shirts, he will not allow it. If he did, and what I use for ds, cotton interlock, from Nature’s Fabrics.

Nicole replied to the topic To line or not to line the Lullaby pants? in the forum oliver + s: lullaby 8 years ago
@with-love-heidi, your layette is divine!
I lined some wool dungarees I made Trixie with lawn.
See here http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2015/05/baby-beatrix.html (not O+S *blush*)
They are brilliant as the wool is naturally water repellent keeping her dry when she toddles in wet grass.
Great choice! -
