I think what I like most about it is that it’s such a good-natured sort of competition. No fake drama. At least, not what I have seen!

Well, it is the kind of knit that will cause success. A more stable knit will be better, if I can do a badminton top on knit then you should be able to do a roller skate in knit – the book report dress can be done in a knit also. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Even the pleated neckline sound cute!

Yes I agree with Nicole, a woven for the facing will stabilise the knit at the neck and lessen the chance of ugly stretched necklines.

I think a knit would be lovely but I would use a woven for the neck facing to keep it in place.

Have you checked out Liesl’s posts on fitting the fairy tale bodice on the blog? they seem quite extensive and my help you with placement.

with love Heidi replied to the topic Faux Fly Basting Stitches. Removed or not? in the forum oliver + s: field trip 12 years ago
I didn’t take them out as they were hidden in a seam at the top. Unless basting stitches will show I tend to be a little lazy in removing them. 🙂

Disclaimer-have not made this pattern yet!
If they are basting stitches,I would remove them when completed.
So excited to see this ‘tenue’. -

I also bumped another thread on digital patterns you might like to check out. Sometimes we presume that info is really obvious when it’s actually very obsure!

I found Nicole’s hint of using double sided stickey tape to tape them together very helpful.
In the corners the patterns have letters, you match the letters (ie A-A, B-B, etc) and this helps you get them together correctly. it’s also worth checking the page with a pictures of the pattern pieces just as a final check that they are all together…[Read more] -

Yes,you do have to join them together.
That is pretty standard with PDF’s.
Something like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/8508925824/in/photostream (Not an o+s,blush)
I swop internet time with my son if he puts them together for me.

Sarvi is correct – I put some in a Sunday Brunch Jacket. I don’t know how this applies to the School Days coat because I haven’t sewed it yet, but I sewed the magnetic snaps through both layers of facing and jacket fabric. I then just sewed the buttons on top through only the jacket fabric solely for their decorative effect.

I am with Heidi,I am not sure how it would dye…..I would stagger it with the other colours.

Mim, maybe put the white in as the canter layers so it enhances the other colours without taking over. Think like undercoating a wall in white and them putting on the colour.

Please make a trial run in another fabric.
When I wanted to make Tildy’s silk version I made a cotton version first to check the size.

I made the 12-18mnth width and lengthened at the hem.
She is nearly 4 (sob) and still wearing it.
If you daughter is petite and your…[Read more] - Load More
