You can add piping just about anywhere. It is mostly seen on collars but yes you can certainly add it to cuffs and the facing of your pj top.
This is what I do to sew it on (and yes I have a piping foot). Firstly with such a large length as the facing, I pin the piping to the edge I want to stitch it on to. Then I go along with a normal sized…[Read more] -

I used pinwale from Spotlight Heidi. It will turn out about the same weight as if using drill so not a winter coat for warmth but it will still look great.

Thanks for the feedback. Did you make it from pinwale or regular cord, Tamara? Yay, all cord’s on special at Spotlight!

I think what I like most about it is that it’s such a good-natured sort of competition. No fake drama. At least, not what I have seen!

Tamara replied to the topic Roller Skate in knit fabric? in the forum oliver + s: roller skate 13 years ago
Well, it is the kind of knit that will cause success. A more stable knit will be better, if I can do a badminton top on knit then you should be able to do a roller skate in knit – the book report dress can be done in a knit also. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Even the pleated neckline sound cute!

Yes I agree with Nicole, a woven for the facing will stabilise the knit at the neck and lessen the chance of ugly stretched necklines.

I think a knit would be lovely but I would use a woven for the neck facing to keep it in place.

Have you checked out Liesl’s posts on fitting the fairy tale bodice on the blog? they seem quite extensive and my help you with placement.

with love Heidi replied to the topic Faux Fly Basting Stitches. Removed or not? in the forum oliver + s: field trip 13 years ago
I didn’t take them out as they were hidden in a seam at the top. Unless basting stitches will show I tend to be a little lazy in removing them. 🙂

Disclaimer-have not made this pattern yet!
If they are basting stitches,I would remove them when completed.
So excited to see this ‘tenue’. -

I also bumped another thread on digital patterns you might like to check out. Sometimes we presume that info is really obvious when it’s actually very obsure!

I found Nicole’s hint of using double sided stickey tape to tape them together very helpful.
In the corners the patterns have letters, you match the letters (ie A-A, B-B, etc) and this helps you get them together correctly. it’s also worth checking the page with a pictures of the pattern pieces just as a final check that they are all together…[Read more] - Load More
