Hugo managed to get some rice cereal into trixie so she slept all evening instead of me feeding all evening
I got the trousers and skirt made and a Continental blouse made up to setting in the sleevesI prewashed some lawn to make another trial run for husbands Liberty shirt. He has lost weight so the last one is too baggy now

Ha! EZ is definitely … well, perhaps an acquired taste. Ok, then maybe the freeform style is not for you. Brooklyn Tweed is more than just Jared Flood, a lot of other people design for them as well. Another designer you might like who writes in a very detailed stitch-by-stitch style is … I forget her actual name, she goes by 6.5stitches on…[Read more]

Isn’t it? I want the bunny print from the catalogue also but Chloe was not in the mood to shop so, next time.
I topstitched the teaparty dress and made buttonholes but that is all the actual sewing I did today.
I cut three layette shirts and two bodysuits all with white backgrounds so I can sew them all at the same time.
I also got busy cutting…[Read more]

I have used blind cord before and that works well. I had some on hand from making roman blinds and it was just the right size.

Leggings made and another hopscotch from the jegging scraps
I was able to cut a late lunch and a continental blouse from the linen
While doing some sorting I found some cut Capri pants and a black skirt from when the twins were babies
If I leave the front darts off I think they may still fit me
Fingers crossed -

I make my own using (smooth, not tweedy) kitchen twine, as that’s what I happened to have on hand when I first tried it, and I liked it so much I kept using it. I cut my bias to 1.25 inches and then I can line up the raw edge of the bias with the raw edge of the fabric and use a 1/2 in seam as normal. Works very nicely.

Oh, and just to add, I’ve been very happy with the Brooklyn Tweed patterns thus far, everything works out pretty well. I had a lot of growth in a pattern where I didn’t block the swatch but obviously that was my fault. Blocking is quite the art form in itself, I might add. It’s *very* easy to undo months of good work with improper handling of a wet piece.

I really feel your pain on this one. I also feel that knitting is so labor-intensive, it’s not worth it to use yarns you don’t love, so even a small project gets very expensive very quickly. The problem is that swatching it so much slower and more expensive than doing a muslin for something sewn. You have to knit a big swatch, using the same yarn…[Read more]
