Right on, @lightningmcstitch! The drape is important for this one. The fabric can be relatively thick as long as it’s not too stiff. @Ginger, I’d suggest going to a fabric store and looking at the coatings section so you can see the type of fabric we’ve recommended for this pattern. That way you’ll know what to look for when you shop your stash!

@lightningmcstitch as per instructions and with an overlocker. It is knit fabric fron spotlight – jersey it said- but it has like zero stretch and the neckband turned out rediculous! It went in the bin and I have vowed to look for stretchier stuff once I get to Perth. I also indulged and bought some fabric from girlcharlee (I know! Mad! given the…[Read more]

Oh the idea of no alterations. I would see all the time for myself if I didn’t have so many curves.

@lightningmcstitch she does! Modelled pics hopefully this week with of course her neon pink shoes! Thank goodness I went monochrome for this one but I hope to get another made in matching neon pink denim – it is the flavour of the moment 😜!
Alas I had no hands for much of today so tomorrow is going to be frantically busy!

@lightningmcstitch yes I do have a pic! @hazel I’ll attach it below. Liesl’s instructions made it so very easy!
I’m actually in the position of needing to alter that lovely eggplant chambray cinema dress I made because it is too loose, what would be the easiest way to size it down? Just pinch in at the sides?

Thank you for all the birthday dress ideas. I’m now totally changing my mind (contrary, moi?!) and am going to finish off one of the two dresses I’m sewing (playtime and hide and seek) for E’s birthday, and do a monochrome playdate for the baby’s first birthday! An Alice dress will have to wait…
I love all the quilting that’s going on at the…[Read more]

Welcome Erysiphe! I love that you have told us about what you do. There are many of us who happen to be green thumbs so they may want to ask your advice on a few things. Some of us grow plants of the cropping kind (my husband is a dab hand) and with that comes soraying and all sorts. We are actually researching how to get the soil in a healthier…[Read more]

Ha! I googled snood tutorials for you @lightningmcstitch and it came up with Hijabs?! But I did find this http://momsbestnetwork.com/diy-infinity-or-circle-scarf-tutorial-aka-the-snood/. I hope this is helpful and you can make lots.
I am in the process of rearranging the sewing area to accommodate a rolling (almost crawling) infant plus the…[Read more]

I am with @lightningmcstitch on this one. I made my baby girl some wool jersey Hopscotch nighties in the smallest size. Can you imagine how tiny those front yokes were?
I found a good steamy press made them behave long enough to stitch.

@LightningMcstitch, that would be amazing! I have it in the car to remind me about seltbelts – and it goes off if you have a heavy bag of shopping on the seat.
The most recent stupid thing has been sewing whilst ill! Don’t do it especially if you are sewing with napped fabric. I attached the frill of the carousel dress upside down so the nap is…[Read more]
