Do you generally do a usb back up Nicole? Or how do you back the photos up generally?
I have all my photos on the ipad but don’t trust cloud. So when I go to “empty out” the camera, I download onto the computer and back up the photo file to the usb.
We had one computer die on us a couple of years ago (thanks to too many storms) and I didn’t do…[Read more]

Nicole replied to the topic Has anyone tried quilting cotton for the pants? in the forum oliver + s: nature walk 10 years ago
I made some with a stretch drill which worked very well but I think the quilting cotton would not have enough ‘give’.

I am having to follow on my phone now, my husband tipped a glass of wine in my laptop and it is obviously tee-total.
The tech guru is hopeful he can save my photos.

Nicole replied to the topic Altering/purchasing RTW denim/pants to fit sway back + sufficient derriere in the forum off topic 10 years ago
I think I can help. I do this for my Twins as they have tiny waists and curvy botties.
#1 Unpick the back waistband about two inches either side of the centre back seam.
#2 Unpick the centre back seam as far as needed.
#3 Try on jeans and re-fit, pinning out excess.
#4 Re-sew centre back seam, fit again, adjust, trim, neaten and topstitch.
#5 Cut…[Read more] -

It is indeed a front loader. I love the approach of saying what you see, it’s completely beguiling. Well, it is until she says something really embarrassing in public, then I won’t like it quite so much!
I am thinking that next time she asks ‘Me watch Peppa Pig on the television?’ I might wilfully mishear it as ‘Me wash Peppa Pig in the…[Read more]

Last night my nearly 2.5yo shadow was ‘helping’ with some chores. She got very animated, asking ‘Me put the sugar in the washyvision Mummy?’. It took her running away and returning with her beloved Frozen pants to understand that she wanted to put the powder in the washing machine to wash them. I love washyvision.

Sarvi replied to the topic Ideas for using patches? in the forum off topic 10 years ago
These are all great ideas, thank you! I think the patches are too big for a strap for a child (they’re about the size of my palm) but I bet if I made a messenger bag for my husband they’d work great for that.
And yes, a vest or messenger bag would be spot on, and could be used both as part of a costume and as part of more regular gear.
Thanks!…[Read more]

I my grungetastic youth it was quite the vogue to have an old army khaki green messenger bag with patches sewn on it so I’m with Brittney. I also think the explorer best with patches would be very cool.

Cooking and Baking 10 years agoHas anybody got a good recipe for almond cookies? I’m looking for the ‘Chinese’ kind that I used to see in pink paper boxes, with a whole almond pressed into the top. Not sure how authentic they are!

Oops, looks like I missed the controversy. Hope folks were able to smooth things over! It is such fun to ‘shop’ on another person’s behalf 🙂 Johanna now I will be picturing cowboy boots in the shower, haha, though I confess I was thinking more of a low bootie in suede, with a kitten heel perhaps?

Can any of you clever folks help me think of a fun use for patches? We visited our local science center, which has a fun space exploration exhibit, and I got lured in by the great patches and bought several, like so:

The obvious uses would be on a flight style jacket or…[Read more]

….I just did the conversion – 50F is 10C – that is seriously middle of winter at its worst for me, and for anyone else who lives in a moderate climate. I’d be moving if 50F was a normal summer temp!
I’d go a dress in a pretty floral fabric (and you do Liberty so well, MC!) – long sleeves and a cardi – and seconding Nicole’s call for a singlet.…[Read more]

Nicole replied to the topic sleeve tab help in the forum oliver + s: jump rope 10 years ago
I tend to sew the tab with a smaller then usual seam allowance, trim well and trim off the corners. If you can’t find tweezers scissor ends wrapped in a bit of tape will work too.
