No sewing today but eventually this week will have me finishing off the corduroy puppet show dress I had started, but not before I do some tidying up in the sewing room first. I tend to get messy when I create!

Then it is gritting the teeth and getting into “ball dress” making mode. And then I can get back to some fun baby sewing again.

  • @Audrey, of course but I am currently away from home so when I get home I will get into the skirt sewing.

I am actually looking forward to it as it will be a nice change to sew only skirts, or pants, or tops at a time. Its fun to do something different to the norm.

  • I might be doing the same – if there is energy enough. Itll wait till monday if not.

    Oh that is too funny!

I rang my parents for this weekend’s itinerary (and to share some of it also) and to ask my dad to pick up the christening cake. My dad asked my nine year old son if he would like to march in the ANZAC day parade with him and wear his great Nan’s medal. My Noah said, “It would be my honour.” And of course the motherly pride swelled!

  • Yes I adore tartan in general also (maybe it is the Scottish roots?) on boys particularly. I think that if you swap the button/snaps to the back and add tucks from the shoulders down to about level with the bottom of the armhole and also add a piped peter pan collar you could have an heirloom version of a boy layette shirt. I also like to have…[Read more]

Sob, sob! I give up sob! Another sewing disaster! My hopes of wearing something not black and bought to Chloe’s baptism are now dashed! The top turned out too big somehow and the skirt is still to be handstitched up and the hem done. But I leave for Perth tomorrow so the time has run out and I am truly upset!

Oh well I will get over it in time!…[Read more]

@Nicole I found a terrific pattern on my last trip to spotlight but was surprised to have the saleslady tell me that she was sorry that it appeared they didn’t stock that one! You know you truly live in the sticks when one of the big four patterns isn’t even stocked at a major franchise!

I hope to take a trip to one of the city stores this…[Read more]

In terms of sewing this week, it has been a complete disaster! I spent much of it trying to alter and fit a pair of trousers to my seemingly bulky nine year old son. Let’s just say I officially gave up on Tuesday! Because the last time I altered a pattern it worked. This time the time pressure got to me and it just WASN’t working. So we will HAVE…[Read more]

  • I am very much looking forward to sinking my teeth into these two pattern. Unfortunately only one of my three children fit the sizes amd she will get the pattern all to herself and for a long time too as she hasn’t even hit the 6-12 month sizes yet.

I love the idea of the butterfly top with bloomers for our summer and I am thinking that even…[Read more]

  • When your 12 year old daughter comes in and shows you her new dress – that she handstitched herself, straps and all and asks you to help her “redo” it! I will after this week but not right now!

  • Oh (slaps forehead) i have that one – it has a racerback style tank too from memory.

Could we please have a men’s version of the sketchbook pattern? Enlarging is a nightmare and I could accept my nine year old wearing Liesl and co because it would look the same as the kid’s version. I cannot jusitfy buying men’s clothes for him though.

  • Haha! I need to do that! I saw this gorgeous dress a friend was wearing at church a few weeks ago but of course didnt have the camera – she bought it in New York!

Another way of doing what Katybellabug said…. Using up all available hard drive space on saving pictures of garments you want to create!
