Could you increase the size of the darts in the back to take up some of the ease?

Nicole, if there’s anything left in the fabric budget I just got an email from The Fabric Store as their VIP sale starts tomorrow. 40% off fabric, and I have a rostered morning off. Could be fun!

That dress (the cap-sleeve version) looks very much like my wedding dress! Which I bought on eBay, ha. I love that tip about the flannel sheet on the cutting mat – I am so doing that in the future.
Janice, I think you could absolutely do it if you and she decide that is what you want. How exciting! -

Thanks for all the encouragement! I was actually thinking of asking my mother for her wedding dress. I was thinking of assessing it for any possible pieces I could use and maybe a bit of an up-cycle.
My daughter is only 5’1″, and has the figure of a gymnast. So, I think the fitting may go ok.

I just searched for the Fabric Scrooge thread using the forum search box – I typed it in several different ways, in quotation marks, without quotation marks, and it wouldn’t come up at all. I was able to find it easily by typing “Oliver+S fabric scrooge” into Google so it’s not…[Read more]

I had 21 inches of 56″ wide twill, out of which I was determined to make a pair of Field Trip cargos for my son. I managed to cut all the 18-24 month pieces out of that fabric except for the cargo pockets themselves (and the waistband facing which I would have used a lighter fabric for anyway). He’s 1 – I figure he doesn’t need the cargo pockets anyway.

Hi Pippi. I’ve been wondering about doing some cotton bias binding around the back neckline too. I’ve made many Field Trip T’s now and only one had a dreadful neckline and it was like that from the start (I blame too stretchy ribbing). None of the cotton/lycra ones have changed with time. So it seems Liesl’s right (as if she ever isn’t!) It’s…[Read more]
