Is this the one you are referring to, @Deb ? I’m trying it with the link button {above} first, and then copy/pasting a second time in case the 1st doesn’t work….

Oh my, girl…..you’ve probably sewn more with smocking than the two of us have combined!!! We LOVE AS&E, and have some of the magazines. We might be interested to take some off your hands :)…but would have to check our stash first! Thanks for the offer…

Loving this discussion – about heirloom techniques and technology!!! We hope to crosshatch without filler….but since we’ve yet to do it, that is yet to be determined.
@cybele27 EXCELLENT IDEA on the garden party for the preteen ladies!
@justsewit Way to include the guys AND girls! A pintuck down the side of a pair of trousers would look quite…[Read more]

Hi all! We’ve got an upcoming post over on the O+S blog about using the “heirloom technique” of tucks in Oliver and S Patterns. Not the ones that already have them….like the Family Reunion or Music Class…but thinking out of the box a bit more. Anyway, we’ve selected 2 O+S patterns to incorporate tucks within. QUESTION: Which patterns would you…[Read more]

Fantastic idea!! Can’t wait to share with the nieces {although it may be used for more “coloring”, than designing….initially}!

I believe it is broken down into 2 size ranges – 1-4 and 5-8. Here’s a link for the size 5-8 that I searched on google. I KNOW the back of the pattern has sizes 1-8 listed, so I think it is legit!

Hmmmm. The Children’s Corner, Hillary makes a “V” for the back closure and has some sweet angel sleeves. Still thinking….

What an amazing pinterest board of inspiration! We don’t envy your decision in the least! How old is your daughter that you’ll be sewing for?

We’ve only heard rave reviews about any of Gail’s classes….so, we can only imagine how wonderful taking two of her classes would be. Ooooh, yes!! You must finish them now – so nice to have an excuse to do so.

Love, love, love Gail Doane’s gorgeous creations!! Funny thing….we briefly met her last weekend, while “crashing” an heirloom sewing class she was teaching. Luckily, it was during lunch so we got a quick photo with her and were able to ooooh and aaaah over the loveliness she brought to showcase.
Yes, yes, yes….if only the time could match our…[Read more]

Well, that’s terrific news :)….if we get in a bind, maybe would could just “rent” it from you for an Easter wearing!! Maybe the girls will let you have another year of smocked attire. Whatever you decide, we’ll be anxious to see the completed garments!!

To say we are excited about this project would be a MAJOR understatement!! Our oldest niece has just entered the size 4…and we are already discussing those sweet patterns that don’t go past a 5. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU ladies for “stretching” the pattern usage a little further for us. We will definitely be following along, and saving for later!

Oh my….that’s lovely {had to look it up online}!! I can completely see why you’ve been itching to make the Mignonette. We hope to make our youngest niece a dress from AS&E for Easter as well. It is Twinkle Toes from AS&E issue 58. Time will tell if we get it done :).

Sarvi….ABSOLUTELY!! Both embroidery and lace insertions are heirloom {in our book}! Sounds like a great plan, Meleliza…start with what you’ve got, and go from there! As for us, we know what we WANT to do, but if it gets done is yet to be determined.

Can you believe Easter is a little over 2 months away?!?! Anyone have any plans to incorporate heirloom sewing and embroidery into their Easter sewing? And, if so…how?
-
Gosh, I can’t believe it’s coming up so soon! I’d love to include some embroidered details and maybe lace insertion — does that count as an heirloom technique?
-
Yes, it’s so early this year! The first step is to see if last year’s Easter Dress fits. I hope so, but she has recently gone through a growth spurt. It had lace and pintucks in the bodice and around the skirt.
