Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Antwerp pullover blending sizes in the forum liesl + co: antwerp pullover 1 day ago
Good question! I aligned the patterns this way because they would be really messy and confusing to follow if I had aligned them the traditional way, but it can certainly cause confusion, yes!
I would suggest tracing one size, then aligning that tracing over the center frnot/back for the second size to trace it as well. Then you can blend as desired.

Thanks for your patience. I’ve been dealing with a family matter this past week and haven’t been online.
I apologize for the confusion. To answer your questions, the collar is sandwiched between the facing and the pajamas when you’re sewing them. And you’re sewing the entire neckline, including the back, because the collar was only basted before,…[Read more]

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Seam allowance on Belgravia dress in the forum liesl + co: belgravia knit dress 1 month ago
Hello, and my apologies that we missed that! Seam allowances on our knit patterns are 3/8″, while patterns for woven fabrics are 1/2″. So year, the 3/8″ is correct for that pattern. We’ll be sure to correct that, and thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Incidentally, there is a sew-along for the Classic Shirt, which uses the same sleeve technique as the Camp Shirt, so maybe this will help? But it sounds like there must be another issue someplace.

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Camp shirt short sleeves. in the forum liesl + co: camp shirt + dress 2 months ago
That sounds really frustrating! I’ve just measured the pattern, and there is less than a 1/10″ difference between the length of the armhole and the sleeve, so I’m not sure why you’re finding it too long. I imagine you’ve checked to be absolutely sure you’ve cut the right sizes for all the pieces, right? One additional thing you could try to…[Read more]

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Tribeca Cami Fabric in the forum liesl + co: tribeca knit cami 2 months ago
I’ve sewn this style mostly with cotton jersey, so good recovery is not strictly necessary, but obviously a fabric with more spandex will retain its shape better. I hope that helps!

Ah, that makes sense, yes! Let us know how it works out. I just got out my culottes the other day, too! It’s a classic style, for sure.

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Help with Girl Friday Culottes in the forum liesl + co: girl friday culottes 2 months ago
Hi there, and I’m sorry the waistband is causing you problems. It’s difficult to tell what’s going on from the photos, but if the culottes are fitting you well before the waistband, another solution would be to cut a waistband longer than the pattern piece and fit it to your waist while you’re wearing the culottes without the waistband. Then pin…[Read more]

Hello! The cutting layouts are part of the pattern sheet itself. Could it be that you’re looking for them in the instructions?

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Round body in the forum liesl + co: kyoto dress 5 months ago
I could swear I answered this question here last week! Yes, I think the pleat at the skirt front could help to camouflage a bit of a tummy, and the bust darts could be opened a bit to allow more room. I would recommend making a muslin to get the right fit before you cut into your good fabric, but I think this style has lots of design elements that…[Read more]

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Havana Bottoms – Lengthen/shorten line in the forum liesl + co: havana pajamas 6 months ago
Hello! To shorten the pajama bottoms, you can either fold a line perpendicular to the grain line or you can simply shorten from the bottom edge. The legs are quite straight, so shortening from the bottom won’t change the width very much. I hope that helps!

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Garibaldi slip skirt pattern in the forum liesl + co: garibaldi a-line skirt 6 months ago
Hello! Are you referring to the bias slip skirt tutorial for the Garibaldi Skirt?
Because the fabric itself for this tutorial is cut on bias, the skirt will be stretchy. When you combine that with the elastic in the waist, the skirt adjusts to fit over the hips…[Read more]

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic How Do I Cut Havana Top's Placket Template? in the forum liesl + co: havana pajamas 7 months ago
From your second post it looks like you’ve done it correctly. You simply cut along the dotted lines on the paper template and place it over your cut paper in order to transfer the lines and trim the bottom edge, just like with a pattern piece. You’re doing great!

Hi Leah, I’m not clear which part of the instructions or illustrations are not clear. The illustrations show each step of the jacket as it is being constructed. The illustrations were made using photos of the jacket as I sewed it. All components are included exactly as they are in the pattern. I’m more than happy to help, to add photos, to do a…[Read more]
