Todd Gibson replied to the topic Bodysuit finished length – chart error? in the forum oliver + s: lullaby 6 years ago
Well, it appears that the error correction contained an error! So sorry about that. The correct length measurements for the bodysuit are as follows:
- 0-3 M: 14″
- 3-6 M: 15 1/2″
- 6-12 M: 17″
- 12-18 M: 18 1/2″
- 18-24 M: 20″
The previously issued errata for this has been updated.

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Serger Problems! in the forum off topic 6 years ago
Sounds like a job for your local service center! I know nothing about machines or sergers and can’t offer any help or suggestions, but I do know that it’s enormously beneficial to have someone knowledgeable who can service your machines. It’s a good idea to have them tuned up and serviced every year at the minimum and worth every penny in…[Read more]

Yes, you are right! There is an error in the length measurement. We’re so sorry about that. We’ll issue an errata and update the pattern shortly. But in the meantime, the correct length measurements for the bodysuit should be:
- 0-3 M: 15.75″
- 3-6 M: 17.75″
- 6-12M: 18.75″
- 12-18M: 20″
- 18-24M: 21.5″

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Gaping Pockets in the forum liesl + co: city stroll wrap skirt 6 years ago
So it sounds like the pocket edge either stretched a bit during construction or pocket is slightly smaller than the front skirt. You could try ripping out the side seam at the spot where the pocket meets the side seam and below and pull the front skirt a bit tighter before re-sewing it. In other words, leave the panel above the pocket as is but…[Read more]

Glad you like it! I forget how much exactly, but I think it’s just moved forward 1/2″ It just gives a better fit, in my opinion. You can check the distance by laying the garment flat from the underarm seam. It’s not really a big deal, I just think it looks better when it’s worn.

Todd Gibson replied to the topic PDF pattern purchases in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 6 years ago
Tamara,
Last year we upgraded our PDF delivery module. The upgrade provides a more robust and flexible method for delivering PDFs, but one of the things we lost was that single consolidated list of all PDFs you had ever purchased that used to appear on your order history page. (It’s been gone for almost a year now, and this is the first question…[Read more]

Ha ha! I go out of my way to avoid all celebrity gossip and even I haven’t been able to avoid that news! What about something inspired by one of William and Katherine’s kids’ outfits? (I hope I got their names right?) I’ve seen a few photos of some really cute clothes–and they qualify and prince and princess, right?

The Roller Skate would be a great back drop to appliquéd bunting.

@softwareandstitches I found this one https://www.craftsy.com/sewing/patterns/a-guide-to-schmetz-sewing-needles/236850 I couldn’t search for you yesterday as I was on my phone.
My favourite is size 10, It seems to sew best on my machine, a Bernina semi-industrial. I am pretty fussy about changing them after hitting a pin or 12 hours sewing time.…[Read more]

Todd Gibson replied to the topic Digital Building Block Dress Pattern in the forum oliver + s: building block dress 6 years ago
We haven’t made that pattern available in digital format. When you start to make your alterations, it is actually quite important that you work with traced pattern pieces rather than the original or with copies printed from a PDF. This is because you will want to have only the lines and markings for the size you are going to work with when you…[Read more]

@moushka26 My apologies in not replying sooner. I have had a bereavement.
I hope your mother continues to improve.

Nicole replied to the topic Ideal Needle Size in the forum oliver + s: building block dress 6 years ago
That will depend on what the fabric you are sewing.
For lawn and voile, I use a size 10, a size 12 for most other fabrics and a 14 for denim.
If you google it, you should find a good chart that will recommend type and needle size.
Good luck.

Todd Gibson replied to the topic PDF Test Square – Cartwheel in the forum oliver + s: cartwheel 6 years ago
Thanks for your understanding. It really should be called out more clearly than that, so I’ve just added a box to the first page of the tiled pages. Anyone who likes can use their download link to obtain this updated copy. There’s been no change to instructions or pattern pieces.

Katy,
The grid lines on the tiled pattern pieces are all 1″ x 1″. You can use any of those as the test square.

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Help with Cartwheel Dress assembly in the forum oliver + s: cartwheel 6 years ago
Lucy, I was hoping to make a video to demonstrate this step but haven’t had a chance yet. The trick is to sew only one shoulder at a time and then turn it right side out before sewing the other shoulder. If you reach in through the sewn shoulder you can pull the dress right side out through the shoulder–it sounds crazy and will feel wrong when…[Read more]

@moushka26 I checked my notes and this was a straight size 8. The top she is wearing is a size 12 Hopscotch t-shirt.
I hope that helps.

How about the same way as the Fairy Tale dress is sewn?
I have a few photos here that may help.
