Don’t forget the mail order option. It can take a week but they hunt around and find it all for you!
Well worth the 7$ p&h. -

I’m bumping this thread rather than starting a new one, because of the photos posted above. If I want to add a sheer fabric at the bottom edge of the skirt, which will extend below it, so it looks like a double layer, how best would I do that? I was thinking at first of inserting my sheer fabric between the hem and the hem facing, where the pink…[Read more]

If I was to line the sleeves I would cut and sew a second sleeve, from lining fabric, put wrong sides together, finish the cuff, set in the sleeve and then bind the arm hole seam.

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Shortening from the waist? in the forum oliver + s: sandbox 14 years ago
What size did you make? If it’s a larger size, you should just be able to shorten at the top–trim 1″ (for example) off the top edge before sewing the waistband on. If it’s a smaller size, watch for the curve of the rise, since you don’t want to start cutting into it. If you’re starting to get into the curve on the smaller sizes, you may need to…[Read more]

Finally got to cutting a toile and I went with the size 8 with the length of the 12.
I am very pleased as is my daughter. I took a cm or so off all the seams above the waist as we wanted it quite fitted. If I make it for play I will go with the standard size 8 with a little length.
The pattern was completely true to her…[Read more] -

I bought the combo Suse(rather hubby bought it for me),big mistake-royal pain in the bum to swap over!
A small tip,my cover stitch doesn’t like fat seams,so when I hem I fold the side seam in opposite directions above and below the seam(twist it),so that I am stitching one seam layer instead of double. It presses up nicely.
Yours may not have that…[Read more] -

I have one of the Janome CoverPro machines and really like it. I don’t like the combined serger/coverstitch machines because it’s a huge pain to switch back and forth and, quite frankly, I don’t think you save much money compared to having two separate machines. I like to have all three machines (coverstitch, serger, sewing machine) lined up on my…[Read more]

I received my latest patterns today Amy! Thank you so much! (& I completely understand the economics of it all – I still try to use Australian sites as much as possible – and as much as my credit card allows!)
