Oh that is excellent news @todd. I think it’s even better knowing where your kidney is going but of course there wouldn’t be much more than that. Please send Liesl our best. Really glad to know she’s up and about already. Major surgery has a tendency to knock you for a six if you’re no careful!

@dubhels2003 such a lovely kind person you are😀

Oh glad we helped. I didn’t actually see Heidi’s post before mine for some reason but isn’t it good you got two votes for one pattern.

We are currently having stupid power surges and I just bought a $20 pdf pattern that only has three goes at downloading😩.

I so far have halfmade skirt that have been put aside for the moment in favour of fitting…[Read more]

    Absolutely @jesims.
I have a tute here http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2012/03/quick-bedtime-story-tutorial.html so you can see the construction.

I would leave off the sleeve, add a flutter and bind the arm sleeve.

Best of luck to wee P.

  • Tamara replied to the topic Seam allowances in the forum off topic 8 years ago

Hi @campergirl the seam allowances are always added into the Oliver and s patterns which is extremely convenient. Just as a general rule of thumb, if the pattern is for a woven fabric, then the seam allowance is 1/2″ and if it is a knit pattern then 1/4″ is used. It usually states this at the beginning of the instructions.

So 1/2″ for the bucket…[Read more]

  • So glad you enjoyed it. I read once that Marilyn was a size 16 but then that is not considered tiny! But I think if she was tiny how small would Audrey Hepburn have been? And Smash was a great program to watch!

  • It was a good as you said it would be @lisamm.

    Marilyn was tiny!

She looked to be so curvaceous in her movies but it must have been her tiny waist over emphasising her bust and hips.

Tildy was enthralled with the movie clips, Hugo devoured all the written memorabilia and Liddy, Zara and Elsie swooned over the clothes.

I was amazed at how…[Read more]

Sounds really interesting @withloveHeidi. A really cute outfit @madtownmama.

I am trundling my way through the for check flannel shirts. I cut the under collar for the Archer shirt on the bias as it stated but it just didn’t fit the upper collar so I cut it again this time on the straigh and on the fold. I like the concept of the undercollar…[Read more]

Nice to hear from you @cybele727 have you taken a look at the Tania culotte by Megan Nielsen? She has a mini sized pattern of the same style too. They are unfortunately full but they are in three different lengths and I am sure they can be made less full somehow (I haven’t actually experimented yet). I made the short version for my eldest last…[Read more]

    Oh that IS cute!

Yesterday we took the children to see “Finding Dory” as part of our birthday celebration tradition (we do this for everyone). At the very start of the session, they showed a short movie called “Piper” – I won’t spoil it too much for those who haven’t seen it. But it involves a piper chick and waves of the ocean.

    Anyway, there…[Read more]

I have printed the pattern for the jeans and measured the girl but I am finishing off some halfmade check shirts first along with two sketchbooks made from the scraps of the other two, just to sink my teeth into sewing again. I feel like I have taken a forced sewing leave. I will finish these off then start on the jeans and hopefully they will be…[Read more]

We’ve been having issues with our main computer so while Murray turned it off at the wall and counted to ten (because it had jammed that much) I noticed our 18month old Chloë covering her face with her hands and counting along too. When we got to ten, Chloë said mumbled version of “Ready or not here I come”

  • Thankyou for those links @liesl. Metal teeth are a definite however the colour of the zipper tape is what is the concern. I like the look of the link featuring the pink moto (is that Gwen Staffani wearing it?) I am undecided as to brass or silver and was planning to Take a sample of fabric to audition with but because I have very limited brick and…[Read more]

Is there a particular Lisette fabric you’re looking for? I’m not sure if you’re looking for the ones sold originally at JoAnn Fabric, which I think are out of stock, or the most recent collection, Woodland Clearing, which is not part of the Lisette line (but in my opinion has a nicer feel to it, I have tried both).

If it were me, I would do my…[Read more]

  • OMG! @lightningmcstitch we don’t want to ruffle any feathers 😂 God knows we have plenty of those winged pests here as it is! I was thinking black but I am going to have a look at the link you very thoughtfully provided and see if I can find a hot pink one. Thankyou so much😘 I am rather excited about the prospect of this jacket and hopefully it…[Read more]

  • I reckon I could find you a hot pink zipper!
Worth an enquiry to these guys http://www.lzf.com.au/ as they have a huge range and will cut to required length etc. I’ve used them for single zips before.
(otherwise, my answer to your question would be black. White would be very 1980s and grey a bit reminiscent of a Galah :))

  • I went to post this on the Lisette forum but I see it is no more???

Anyway, as part of the many things on the to do list this school holidays, I want to finally sew the moto jacket for my eldest. She has chosen hot pink stretch denim which totally fits her personality and even though it definitely doesn’t fit within the colour scheme that seems…[Read more]

I am supposed to be sewing a couple of jumpers (pullovers/ sweatshirt – keep you warm outerwear) for dh whose birthday is tomorrow and some more sleepshorts. But I am not getting very far.

My little sewing nook is normally child free. Not anymore as the child has discovered how to get in🙁 And since it is school holidays and I have three children…[Read more]

  • Hi Connie @totter2, if you are doing view b then the interfacting is not required. If you are doing view a (the bodysuit) then the interfacing goes on the crotch area.

I hope this answers your question.
