I Love the nature walk top and I can see me making quite a few of them. But what I am missing is a trendy pair of trousers pattern for the older girl something that you can dress up or down depending on what fabric you use. I love the skirts and the dresses but my older girl is very much a jeans girl. Help please.

OOOO, I love the idea of girly pants. Maybe cuffs, with a waistband, zip fly and pockets. soooo pretty! I’m still hoping for a trench coat, though!

My daughter is always buying my 2 year old granddaughter sweatshirts. I prefer sweaters, but I would like to see a stylish sweatshirt alternative and a blouse with a ruffle button placket.

I would really like to see some super basic stuff – leggings, a basic t-shirt, maybe jeans. I’m thinking about the stuff that I typically buy at Target to pair with Oliver + S clothes, mostly to extend the wearability of the garments into the colder months. I’m thinking a crew neck t-shirt with short and long sleeve options, and leggings with varying length options. I know that there are a lot of t-shirt patterns out there, but the directions are never as good as the Oliver + S instructions.

I may be getting a bit desperate here, but I’ve dressed my three boys in sailboat tops and bottoms (with some variations) for two years in a row for Easter now and even though they have been SUPER cute both at Easter and through the summer, I think the family and friends that receive portraits would like a little variation! Love the sketchbook shirt and how it comes together, but three boys in dress shirts is a little matchy too.

Sooooo- I would love some dress pants (Liesl- thou shalt fear no zip fly!! 🙂 )….big boys can’t wear elastic waist pants all the time (church?)…..Maybe a vest to wear with the sketchbook shirt that can be adapted to the occasion? How about some welt pockets on that so I can practice those ( I just can’t get it right). Maybe a boys lightweight dressy coat with a vest options? I’m desperate here, soon they will be too old for me to dress, and I have to have a wall full of classic gorgeous oliver and s clothes and boys in portraits to prove that I did my best in a world full of boring boys clothes! Help me! katja

PS I’m still rooting for the knit rugby shirt and awesome pants with lots of pockets and the short/long roll up overalls for tide pool wading….I know, I know, I can’t have it all.

I haven’t read back through all 7 pages of this post to see if this is a repeat but I would love to see some cuffed cropped knickers like Townmouse has in her store. I would be excited to see the fun details you would add to a pattern like that!

Echoing violetvata, I would love to see a little suit, and going on my past record, I’d buy the pattern even if it took me years to get around to making it. Also, although I have a daughter, I have no problem dressing her in a sharp little suit, whereas I don’t think many folks would dress their sons in dresses. Who knows, maybe I am not giving people enough credit!

Wanting to second the emotion for girl pants. I love making the Sandbox pattern for my girl and plan to get the larger size since it’s going out of print. I hope something else is in the future for girls (or unisex even that can be dressed up/down for the girls) pants. I like dresses on my girl more than I thought I would, but pants are great too! And I am concerned too about how long before she fits over elastic pants. It’s another reason I love the Sandbox…the drawstring adds a little ‘age’ to them, in my opinion.

Still hoping for a vest too. This is also a great unisex option. What can I say, I love a good dress down, play in the yard day!

Girl’s shorts would be great, I have made about a thousand Puppet Show bloomers and absolutely love them, but my girl is getting bigger by the day and soon will out grow size 5. There aren’t many short patterns out there for girls with all those gorgeous Oliver and S details….pretty please???

Have you thought of making the Sailboat pants into shorts and adding the ruffle to the front edge? Very girly!

Was thinking more of very tailored shorts but am definitely going to give the Sailboat ones a try, I love that pattern.

The Sketchbook shorts would be lovely with a cuff and stitched seam line down the crease. One could make the waistband wider and stitch down 1/2 inch to make the elastic casing, this would give a little ruffle effect at the waist , add belt carriers and back pockets with a little ruffle at the top of them.

They would be gorgeous over stripy tights with boots, a Music Class blouse and Sunday Brunch for cool weather.

I was thinking today that I would love some kind of skort pattern. My 4yo won’t wear anything but skirts and dresses. I like adding tights and leggings but we live in California, sometimes skorts are really convenient and comfy (and mindful of little girls who want to climb and roll around.) I have a knee-length 6 gored skort I bought at Land’s End that is made out of jersey knit and I found myself looking at it today and thinking how great a design like this would be in City Weekend knits!
