I have been sewing a few pairs of sunny day shorts. On one of them I managed to sew the elastic one over the other and close the opening only to realize that the elastic had turned over somewhere (face palm). Out with the seam ripper.

Jerri replied to the topic Bigger size in swingset tunic and skirt??? in the forum oliver + s: swingset 10 years ago
I just made my first swingset skirt and my 5 year old is in love!! My seven year old however is begging for one in her size. I would love to see larger sizing on this pattern! Every girl needs a skirt that twirls! Thanks so much for making such beautifully classic patterns!

Jax congratulations! Twins wow! I wish you the best of luck for a healthy pregnancy and birth.
My baby Chloe had her needles yesterday and treated me to a blissful two hours of time in the sewing room (while she slept). During this time I pleated the front skirt of a smocked dress I plan to make. I’m using the most gorgeous checked winter twill…[Read more]

I had twins, happy to chat!
On a sewing level, Hopscotch dresses make the BEST baby gowns.

Thank you. I am excited, but also a little nervous. Any advice or helpful hints are appreciated.

Wagyu Burger replied to the topic Who wants to sew the Oliver + S skirts with me and win?? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 10 years ago
Audrey, your productivity is astounding! I’ve already posted one on your link, got another one to post (I’m unhappy with the photos). Plus I have a couple in the pipeline – one ready to hem, the other I just cut out the fabric last night – so we’ll see if I manage to get up early enough over the next few days to get on the sewing machine!

Sewing for Yourself 10 years agoThat’s a cute dress! I love Rachel Comey’s designs.
It’s difficult to see the details in the photos, but I’d tend to start with the Gallery Tunic if I was doing it. It’s the closest silhouette to this dress, but you’ll still need to do some work to get the right look. I hope it works and you keep us posted on your progress!

@LightningMcstitch, that would be amazing! I have it in the car to remind me about seltbelts – and it goes off if you have a heavy bag of shopping on the seat.
The most recent stupid thing has been sewing whilst ill! Don’t do it especially if you are sewing with napped fabric. I attached the frill of the carousel dress upside down so the nap is…[Read more]

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Making a sleeveless gallery tunic in the forum liesl + co: gallery tunic + dress 10 years ago
Typically a sleeveless pattern has a much higher armhole than a pattern with sleeves, so you’ll want to raise the armhole when you try this. You’ll probably also need to do a little work to eliminate gaping at the armhole, so I’d definitely recommend making a muslin if you’re going to try this. But if the pattern fits properly across the chest you…[Read more]

I don’t mean to comment so much on this feed, just a lot of my sewing escapades seem to result in mistakes!
I have tonight made more errors on the playtime leggings than there are pattern pieces 😉
I’m quickly (always the first mistake, speed spoils everything) trying to run up two pairs of leggings for the baby ready to jet off on our…[Read more]

Sewing for Yourself 10 years agoHAHA. Now I’ll have to post a draft of my first try, since it’s become a project of collaboration. I’ll try both a knit (from the Liesl tee) and a woven (from Diplomat) to compare!
When posting that link, I hadn’t even realized that I could by a PDF version of the Diplomat dress. How modern!

Sewing for Yourself 10 years agoOh goodness, I didn’t even think about the Diplomat, what a great idea! I think it would be easy to modify!
