I use the same needles I use for everything else and Gutermann, not for any special reason, just because it always seems to be on sale at JoAnn. If you want to splurge on the good stuff, this’d be the project. Maybe think of getting some special buttons?

  • Great resolutions, and I totally agree — sometimes the big stash is a storage problem and source of option paralysis. I think I’ll bookmark a few pieces of the quilting cotton for, gasp, actual quilts, and maybe chuck the rest on ebay/etsy/instagram?

  • Dubhels2003- I have a long standing love of vintage patterns. I’ve had these patterns in my stash for awhile, & wanted to sew them, but just hadn’t sewn them for whatever reason. So glad I did!

  • I did okay with mine. I sewed more for me (thanks to pattern testing) and used patterns and fabric that I had in my stash. I think I only bought a handful of new patterns. I was also a bit more intentional with my fabric purchases. But lack of discipline is still an issue!

@Sarvi Those one-yard cuts of quilting cottons that seemed like a good…[Read more]

Nicole, I hope the fires are not in your area. You will definitely need that pool with all the high temperatures you are getting. Stay safe and cool (if thats possible) . I hope all the girls in Victoria are also safe and have a cool spot.

That is what I did but I must have measured wrong. It wasn’t the right size and stuck up a bit on the side.

I totally love the patterns! The dresses are to die for and I really love the classic look and versatility of the patterns.

  • Isn’t she darling? The proportions are really so different on babies. I thought the same thing about the long rise but then I remembered how differently babies move, you don’t want little bellies getting chilled when all that kicking tugs downs low-rise pants.

Do you have any small shirts with collars you could copy/trace? Or you could type ‘shirt collar pattern’ into https://images.google.com/ and get a feel for the shape of the piece, then just draw it yourself. After one or two practice ones you’d probably get a shape and size you liked. Your local library might also have a book with what you need.…[Read more]

I am sewing newborn. I also do not have any of those patterns. This one is my first and I just LOVE it. I am sewing for a relative. She is having her first baby and I don’t even know the sex yet. I just make one girl outfit, one boy outfit, girl, boy, etc. Her due date is Aug. 1 so this pattern is just perfect!

  • OMGosh! The clothes are cute but your baby is adorable!! My ovaries just ache.

Yep, these are the knits. 3 colourways of the floral, the crosses, and the scallops/stripes, and two colourways of the random dots and the circles. (Sorry – should have arranged them better for the pic – they were shelved rather haphazardly). I have uploaded the pic to the O+S Flickr group – you should be able to see it better there

Are those the knits? I love the large flowers on the teal background, just mind the pattern
    placement 🙂

For those in Australia – it seems the new Lisettes have made their way to Spotlight – I found what looks like the full range of the new knits today at Spotlight Rockdale. They are $16.95/m, but are currently on special for $11.90/m…..not trying to enable anyone or anything….. 😉
