Thanks Tamara. I had worked it out and the second one took barely 5 mins. The third one my daughter made and wore all day like a giant hairband. Bit like those beautiful African village women wear, only it was light blue velour leftovers, so she looked like an African Elsa!

It was one of those stupidly baffling sewing tubes things. Should have been as easy as anything. I thought for a moment about looking for an online tute before I started, then thought, nah, how hard could it be…

Loving the new ability to find a user via the drop down menu that appears after typing the @ symbol. Thanks @admin !
I find that the display for posting in the forum is still slightly too narrow when viewed on my Nokia Windows phone. I can’t get to the submit button unless I hit return. Like this .

Love the sound of that trench @with-love-heidi.
@jackir the LTTS book is such a treasure trove. Have fun with it.
I just got back from the school run and it is soooooo cold. We ride our bikes and now I’m going to knock up some snoods (neckwarmers) out of leftover bits of polar fleece. -

As Nicole said, remembering to change the buttoning side should be all it needs. I wonder if it would be nice at the back to gather the section that is normally an inverted box pleat. The box pleat is quite business shirt-like to my mind.

I’ve got another, slightly different way to avoid hand sewing which is shown here: http://bartacksandsingletrack.blogspot.com.au/2013/11/hats-galore-and-no-hand-sewing-tip.html
What makes the biggest difference to how it comes together is the amount that you’ve turned up the seam allowance on the lining crown. Being out by a little bit here makes…[Read more] -
Kim replied to the topic Center front shoulder straps in the forum off topic 10 years ago
Thank you for your suggestions. I decided to sew straps in the usual place instead of the center front. They do tie in the back on each side. I interfaced the bodice for support.

i have made my girl some as uniform shirts, they require a peter pan (rounded) collar. I just trimmed the points, but you can also swap the collar for the one from the Puppet Show or similar. Pretty buttons are a nice touch too — dd loves the one with “pearls.”

You could swop the side that you button on but my girls happily wear Hugo’s hand-me-downs.
Lidia is wearing them now, that is the third child to have them. -

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Elastic how long for size 7? in the forum oliver + s: sunny day shorts 10 years ago
@miss_Sonja if you look at any pattern you should find body waist measurements for size 7. General rule of thumb is to cut the elastic one inch shorter than the waist measurement. Depends a lot on your elastic and your kid…
For my just turned 7 son who is quite lean I would cut about 22″. I think this is about 1.5″ less than the standard size 7…[Read more] -
