Ah, I remember that stage! If the dress is for photos, then of course make what you like, but for everyday wear, even a tunic length that’s loose will hang down and catch on her knees. Pants or bloomers and slimmer tops are a better bet for an active baby.

Don’t be too intimidated — I personally find the Tea Party bodice curve trickier to sew than any part of the Fairy Tale. It’s just a lot of steps if you want to do all the options, collar, sleeves, sash, and tulle. But no individual step is that hard to sew, and indeed I think of the plainer versions without the extras as being one of the easier sews.

Fixed the hyperlink, now the pattern number should take you to your intended link. (Turns out it needed the http bit.)

Fixed the hyperlink, now the pattern number should take you to your intended link… or rather, the html looks right but it’s not working, how odd. Let me try again.

Cotton lawn would be a great choice. It’s very nice to wear, presses well, and is easy to sew. Depending on the color and print, it may be opaque or it may be a bit sheer. If it is sheer, you can line the dress pretty easily. I’m sure somebody here can talk you through it when you get to that part, if it becomes an issue.

Oh, that’s a good point — the PDFs can reach a wider audience. You probably know about this shop in Islington already but I remember seeing them there, maybe they’ll have it? http://www.raystitch.co.uk/

I’m so surprised this one didn’t have the needed sales for another print run! This seems like everybody’s go-to fancy dress pattern.

Have you checked to see whether Shaukat will deliver to India? They don’t charge VAT when shipping elsewhere.

Oh, what pretty fabric and SO perfect for an Irish wedding! I was drawn to that same photo from your Pinterest board as well. One suggestion I’d make is to make the underlayer a slightly darker shade than the overlayer. With white on white I find that sometimes I can’t see the pretty details as well as I’d like.

I can’t see the fabric you splurged on, is there supposed to be a link or attachment? I doubt I can suggest anything you haven’t thought of but I’m excited to see what you’ll make!

I’ll let Brittney speak for herself, but yes, I think we’re all close to ready. I’ll trace off the Tea Party so I’m ready to go. How are your schedules looking, gals?

Don’t be ashamed! That show has some really good writing. It never really ‘grabbed’ me but I could appreciate the workmanship that went into. I like pretty much everything on your list, so I’ll have to check out the few I don’t watch already. Have you seen Top of the Lake? I don’t think I could knit through it, it’s too wrenching, but if you can…[Read more]

A bean soup with with wilted kale/spinach stirred in at the end should hit the spot — I don’t like chard but love kale, but you could use whichever green your daughter likes best:
