@Sarvi, I think the sewing havoc wench moved on to my house. I sewed the lining to the swingset skirt on inside out. Boooo.

@sarvi your Persian New Year in the park experience reminded me of one of my favorite Carl Sandburg poems from 1916.
Happiness
I asked the professors who teach the meaning of life to tell me what is happiness.
And I went to famous executives who boss the work of thousands of men.
They all shook their heads and gave me a smile as though I was… -

@maraya thanks for your thoughtful response to my post.
I’m glad there are people who understand that the old adage “penny wise, pound foolish” still holds true. We want our patterns to give everyone a sewing experience from start to finish that exceeds their expectations. We know that the most important commodity in most people’s lives today is…[Read more]

Agreed, the skirt is just a big rectangle. Cut it as wide as you like. The fairy tale skirt isn’t even that full. For finer fabrics, I like to cut it even wider. If you have 58″ fabric, just tear one strip all the way across.
Honestly, @sarvi, the French seams in the sleeves aren’t any more fiddly than a 1/2″ seam. Actually, it’s easier to set a…[Read more]

She is 4, so 4 1/2 for the wedding. She’s pretty tall and as the youngest, quite grown up for her age.
@sarvi, that is such a truly excellent idea I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of it before! I am actually kicking myself in the behind right now. It would also help with the photos.
@reeni, in theory, I would like to be inspired by the brides…[Read more]

Thanks for sharing that @Sarvi. I do like those plackets and that is such a cool way to do them. I am looking forward to seeing yours.

I had to google what RealTree fabric is. Are you sewing it for a girl or boy, and is it meant to be worn soon? I was thinking a layette jacket out of sherpa or berber fleece (if meant to be worn while it’s still winter) with bias trim in leftover RealTree or hunting orange fabric would look nice (if for a girl, you could trim it in a rose pink or…[Read more]

@rhythmtyagi that cross stitch is adorable! I saved the Martha Stewart pdf template to my phone’s Kindle app and am already thinking how I can adapt it to resemble my family – mostly, how I’ll make the man’s outfit look like a military uniform ;-). I love that the baby is in a carrier as I use my ring sling and ergo all the time! I like the sizing…[Read more]

I did okay with mine. I sewed more for me (thanks to pattern testing) and used patterns and fabric that I had in my stash. I think I only bought a handful of new patterns. I was also a bit more intentional with my fabric purchases. But lack of discipline is still an issue!
@Sarvi Those one-yard cuts of quilting cottons that seemed like a good…[Read more]

I knew I would get some good advice here and I have. Thank you all from the bottom of my tired heart. 🙂
I had never heard of a GroClock before, what a wonderful idea. I talk her every night about staying in bed until the sun is up, but maybe something a little more concrete that she can see right in front of her would help. She is interested in…[Read more]
