I love the idea of using the Sailboat pants/skirt to make overalls!

Such really useful info, ladies. I don’t have much experience sewing pants, but I do know that kids’ widths are various points on their bodies commonly differ radically from their lengths. Thank you.

I’m not sure if the following fits into this thread but I wanted to tell the forum that all the things I made for the Maytime Fair sold well, and quickly, and were popular ie the stall manager would like some more of the same, next year. So my contribution raised $300; nearly 25% of the stall’s overall takings. Isn’t that cool? I’m told that the…[Read more]

Nicole posted about her lengthened trousers here:

And agree with Cat75 – good point about crotch length

I concur
I over altered the Field Trip cargoes for my daughter and lost a lot of hip room , they are okay but it did spoil the patten some what
I did lengthen the Art Museum trousers for my tall skinny girl very successfully adding length to the waist and the ankle
( I just checked , size 7 with a length of 12)
I guess as long as the hips are…[Read more] -

I’m like Masha…I prefer cotton/lycra knits when I sew for the kids. It’s relatively easy to work with and seems to hold up well. My personal rule of thumb is to use 8-10 oz. weight fabrics for tops and dresses. 🙂

Tamara replied to the topic Who wants to sew the Oliver + S skirts with me and win?? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 9 years ago
I have just finished a 2+2 skirt, the first for me but I have had this pattern for quite a while, just didn’t have a little girl to fit into the size range.
Next I have a hot pink hopscotch.

I have just completed my second skirt for the challenge. It happens to be a first for me though as I haven’t had a proper opportunity to try out the 2+2 pattern. I forgot to add a tag though so I suppose I will have to find a suitable spot.
I used a really pretty piece of pink pinwale corduroy. Thank goodness for remnant pieces and small sized…[Read more]

Forgetting where I put a pattern whilst planning a project and then ordering the digital version out of desperation, printing a copy and then finding the original paper pattern under the fabric I intended to use with it!

I am half way through constructing skirt number two. Have taken a break to turn in for the night and listen to dh’s snores (oh joy!). I have given myself permission to get on with joining in the skirt challenge since I have been relieved of formal dress sewing duties (thank goodness for that).

I still love Alexandra or Charlotte for her though. And I would think they may even use Catherine as this would have ties to not only Catherine herself but to her maternal family.

We’ll see. Their are so many lovely royal girls’ names to choose from. The child was 8lbs 3oz – very sturdy.
