    Lots of options!
    1. Bias binding, either over the edge so it shows or folded under to make a hem facing
    2. add the honeycomb pink Ruffle (generally my favorite 🙂
    3. Add lace, I would add eyelet lace as it’s already on the collar.
    4. do a rolled hem
    5. Draft a hem facing
    6. Make a skirt to go underneath, maybe a lazy days skirt. add a ruffle…[Read more]

  • @todd that’s fabulous news about the paper size change/addition. now I just have to work out how to split PDF files so that I can put all my large pattern sheets into one file. The local printer has a $15 per job minimum so printing one file would still be too expensive.

far be it for me to pick an argument 🙂 but I’m afraid the list of countries…[Read more]

  • Exciting Nicole! What are you going to make yourself? 🙂

  • Just finished some navy courduroy field trip cargos. I’ve remembered how much I like that pattern 🙂 I love all the top stitching!
I’m thinking I’ll make some more elements in the periodic table. Probably H, Li, Na and K (hydrogen, lithium, sodium and potassium). Then I’ll have all the alkali and alkaline metals done 🙂

  • We took feedback very seriously from the survey we asked people to complete last December. We’re making a few changes to our digital patterns for this spring as a result of feedback (one change is in the inclusion of A0 sheets), and we’ll be making a major enhancement to them starting with our next collection.

I have it on my list to do a series…[Read more]

  • Wow, that’s responsive service!

  • Yes, digital patterns currently available are not sized to be printed on A0 paper–which, by the way, seems to be an Australian standard not used most other places.

Starting with our Spring 2015 patterns, though, we will be included A0 layouts for those of you Down Under.

  • Nicole’s ironing tips are golden, I love the one for the Birthday Party dress.

  • I still have the following patterns:

    Ice Cream 5-12
    Tea Party – 2t, 3t, 4 & 5
    Music Box Jumper 5-12

    Just message with interest. Thanks!

I’m due late May – just about nine weeks left. The time is just speeding by. I am impressed with your ability to sew post-baby, Tamara. I am expecting not to have any time to do so in the first few months at least!

Third-trimester insomnia has kicked in. I crept out of bed at 11:30 and spent an hour and a half sewing a teeny Geranium dress for my sister-in-law’s baby-girl-due-in-July. Unsure how I want to trim it, though, so I am heading back to bed. If anyone is around, feel free to take a peek and give me a suggestion! Three photos, set starts here:…[Read more]

  • Wow! I’ve received a lot of messages! I will respond in the order received, and update the original post this evening. My husband took the day off work and whisked me away to go antique shopping, so I can’t update at the moment.

For those asking, I have the frock and wanderings coat patterns from sugar city, uncut.

    Thanks ladies!

I assume double-faced gauze is the same as double gauze, but as I’ve never bought one of the fabrics labeled the latter I can’t confirm. The trouble with it is that although it’s not knit, its loose weave and the fact that it is two layers of fabric tacked together here and there, make it unrelentingly shifty under the presser foot. I should…[Read more]

  • In general I have found O+S patterns to be a tad bigger than ready-to-wear. The only Sunny Day Shorts I have made were in a size 2T and that was the case there. I don’t think they are so much bigger that you have to make a size up, though. Just a little roomier. The key would be the waist measurement for the elastic, and since you have those I…[Read more]
