It’s not a narrow fit, and I think the style of the cut is pretty forgiving. Maybe add a bit to the blouse and a bit to the peplum? I made a 5 for my daughter who’s gotten to be a 6 in height but still a 5 in circumference, and the blouse looks just as nice now, I think.

I think this dress would be lovely in wool, but bear in mind that it is unlined, for one, and a long full dress, too. You’d want to select your wool carefully to be sure it felt nice against your skin, and the dress didn’t feel too heavy or stiff.

Hi, when I shortened the yoke on mine, I removed one inch from the bottom edge of the yoke, and raised the center skirt by a corresponding one inch. To remove fullness I would narrow the center skirt by moving the pattern piece past the fold, so the left and right edges were the same, but there was less width. I’m not sure if that’s the kind of…[Read more]

What is a ‘lounge set’ for children? I am supposed to make one by Friday, but not sure I have ever seen a 6 year old lounge.

@todd if sewing for you means I “have to” take a trip to Spain for fittings then yes, I will volunteer. Can’t make any promises about the quality of my work, post-sangria. Might find my husband and daughter suddenly making themselves invaluable as tracers of patterns and stitchers of buttons.

I’m another no-intentional-bra-strapper, and while I keep meaning to buy a different style of bra that will allow me to wear a racerback style (which I actually find very comfortable as well as liking how it looks) I somehow have never gotten around to it, which probably reveals something.

So if we develop and release patterns for men, who is volunteering to sew from them for me?

Hi Sarah,
I replied to your email but thought it might be helpful to post part of my reply here to help others with similar questions. I hope that’s alright!
Regarding your questions about fabric: it sort of depends on the style you’re sewing. Actually, a lot depends on the style/pattern you’ve chosen.
If you’re making the Cappuccino…[Read more]

I tend to shop by feel and drape so I am not much help with names…
May I say, if anyone makes you feel bad, they are the jerks, not you!
You ask your questions, only a stupid person stops learning.

Shirts with two piece collars and cuff plackets are always on my radar.
I would love your instructions for these.Cargo shorts, something like the Field Trip with no waist band/elastic back casing would be great as work/casual wear.

We love our food @lisamm Thank you for the suggestion. My Biggies were ‘Smash’ fans so when we saw the exhibition flyer, we booked extra days accommodation so we could see it.

My girls and I love racer back tops. We work out and have nice shoulders and want to show them.
I don’t find visible bra straps a problem and younger women don’t mind at all.
Spaghetti straps are very pretty too. I wouldn’t wear them to sit in the sun all day but otherwise, very cool and comfortable.

Ok, I need your input again. What are your feelings about spaghetti straps. For yourself, I mean. Will you wear them? And what about shirts with racer backs? Too hard to wear with a bra?
