For the most case, it won’t matter if you cut the straps with the grain or across the fabric.
I made some silk ties for a dress once and cut one with and one across and the one across stretched a little.
I shouldn’t think you would have a problem with most fabrics you would use for the bear carrier.

Pippi, that tape used to finish the neckline is really for aesthetic reasons–to cover the merrow/serger stitching. I suppose it might also stabilize the neck a bit too, but the fabric itself is mostly responsible for the neckline. when tracing
when cutting
when pinning
when stitching

Did you maybe confuse front and back on the side piece? I did that with one of the pairs I made and ran into that problem. I never fixed it, just trimmed, and the final product was not noticeably different, but it did get me scratching my head a bit during assembly until I realized that there is a front and back to that side piece.

Oh, I have been there with the waffle pattern! I feel your pain!

I have made size 2t and size 8 and there was a little ‘creepage’ that needed to be trimmed but I put that down to possibly sewing inaccurate seams and the slippery cord I was using.
