No cable here either but we have Hulu. I love Nashville and The Mindy Project. Hubby is in NYC tonight so I will be able to catch up on my chick shows and yes, I have some hand sewing to do too 🙂

I haven’t heard of Top of the Lake. What’s it about?
MASH is awesome! We were watching the one called Adam’s Ribs last night and They talked about ribs so much that we had to go out and buy ribs for dinner for tonight haha. They are in the oven now! And thanks @sarvi 🙂

Does anyone else do this? I sew up a bunch of stuff until I get to a hand sewing part and then throw them in the hand sewing basket I keep next to the couch and when my husband and I watch an episode at night, I do all my blind hems, or button sewing, etc.
I thought it would be fun to share favorite TV shows 🙂 We don’t actually have cable tv,…[Read more]

I just saw this but I’m totally in! My daughter (almost 3) saw the butterfly pattern and just about lost it she wanted the skirt so bad so I’m letting her “help” me 😉

My plans to make a single swimsuit during Kids Clothes Week turned into a mad rush to complete a million garments – mostly knits. I’ve cut up some old dresses of my mom with sentimental significance and made little sundresses for her granddaughters, made a few pairs of summer pjs for the boy and finished up the baby WIPs that have been sitting in…[Read more]

I was about to nominate myself here : http://bartacksandsingletrack.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/first-birthdays.html?m=1 but that’s bias binding on the bodice facing. I don’t think I did anything special on the hem facing…

@Darcy I made that chickpea salad for myself today – it was delicious!

like you, Darcy, we are not vegetarians but eat vegetarian (actually, vegan!) a lot. I love a hearty salad. To make it filling without animal proteins I add sunflower seeds, chickpeas, several different kinds of vegetables and fruits, and top it off with a tahini-based dressing.
A little more time consuming but very yummy is lettuce wraps…[Read more]

Oh yes! I love that idea too! This child is going to have a lot of outfits! Ok so this might sounds crazy but bare with me for a moment. What if I used the puppet show top and the tea party sunsuit bottom and modified them to mash together. It would have the collar, a line to add piping to the bodice and I could embroider the bodice with little…[Read more]

My four year old was helping me hang washing and was naming things as she passed them to me:
“your undies mummy,
My brother’s sock,
Daddy’s nose blow thing,
…”Laundry names seem to be a sticky point as she once asked me, very loudly, in the swimming pool change rooms:
“where you get that booby holder from, mummy?” -

I definitely agree with that. I love a tartan. That is so cute and both ideas are adorable! I will definitely be adding those to my sewing list for my future nephew! Look at how little they are!!

I do have the puppet show, @motherof5! Yes I’ll definitely try that! The hide and seek would be adorable too! What color do you think? I’m so inexperienced at sewing for boys! Give me baby girl and I’m golden but I’m still learning to get my creative juices flowing for little boy things! Hopefully this nephew will help things along 😉

I can’t help but think when I’m sewing the little layette (and I’m sewing it A LOT right now as almost all of my friends are having babies by the end of the summer) that it feels like a modern heirloom (contradiction, I know).
I’m making the bodysuit in a batiste which automatically makes it feel special and on certain ones I have been adding…[Read more]

So I’ll start out by saying that we are not vegetarian but we don’t cook much meat in our house. We buy meat maybe once a month, maybe less. Although we do buy fish a little more than that. But anyway, we eat a plant based diet.
The hardest meal to go more vegetarian is lunch, what with sandwiches that are heavy in meat and such. So I thought…[Read more]
