I feel strange posting about this but as I feel I have gotten to know many of you over the last years, here goes. My husband suffered a stroke yesterday morning. He is in the intensive care unit at the hospital and in critical condition. His left side is completely paralyzed. He is only 37 years old and we have no idea what happened. Our lives…[Read more]

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Washing the Garden Party dress? And two changes I made… in the forum oliver + s: garden party 9 years ago
Just typed a long post then lost it, anyway mine did the same thing @juliamom2009 and it was good old quilting cotton. Now in the mending pile.
Perhaps we need to interface both main and yoke. The same issue was found with Badminton dresses. What do you think @liesl an errata or warning required? -

Exactly what Nicole said; that kid (and the tie) are too adorable for words!

I have made this pattern twice – no problem after washing. Unfortunately, both of my neck closures shredded at the bottom after washing. Most likely I clipped too close in my effort to get it to turn nicely. But, the gathers look just fine.

It’s my understanding that 36″ wide paper comes on a roll. Should be able to print to whatever length you want.
Search for a print shop that will do blue prints. They’re not hard to find.

Robin replied to the topic How short can I make it? in the forum liesl + co: gallery tunic + dress 9 years ago
JoannaH, I think if you can get a good fit in the shoulders, and have the tunic glide over the rest of your body, it will look great.

Any specific recommendation for the interfacing for the Parachute Polo? I have Pellon SF 101 but I think it’s a bit too heavy.

I’m chuckling to myself this morning Johannas. I saw the picture of JohannaO in the flickr group and thought the tunic was perfect, and wondered why she was asking for advice after the fact. Happy sewing Johanna!

Someone with more experience than me is going to answer you I’m sure. View A is not the easiest pattern to adjust because of the 2 layers, but it can be done. View B might be easier. I think you need to start at a 4, do an FBA and grade out the bottom of the pattern to a size 16. Try on the muslin and make your second round of adjustments from…[Read more]

Robin replied to the topic Maritime-stuck on what to do next in the forum liesl + co: maritime knit top 9 years ago
Hi There, sometimes it’s better to go by measurements rather than cup size. Measure your full bust and your high bust. Look at the difference between the 2 numbers. If it’s more than 2 1/2″ you may want to do an FBA.

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Liesl & Co patterns–sized by RTW or by pattern sizing? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 9 years ago
Liesl and co patterns should match your ready to wear size. Other patterns may not. Here’s the blog post from Liesl about sizing….
