Thanks @cybele727 I went on a mad monochrome cutting spree. Butterick skirt and top for me, play date dress, jump rope dress and swingset skirt and top for my daughter.
So far the Playdate is sewn… -

Oh, and yes, you will need your pleat markings on the right side of the dress, otherwise they’re lost under the facing when it comes time to make the pleats.

@cellisttoo I’ve made one with a bias bound facing and it works fine. There’s a picture of the insides on this blog post if it helps: http://bartacksandsingletrack.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/first-birthdays.html?m=0
You’re right, both the dress and the facing get pleated together. I didn’t find the bias binding caused a problem but mine was a cotton…[Read more] -

I love them as well – my daughter is on her 3rd pair…that have now sadly been chewed through by our puppy. I am going to stitch them together however….but they totally last; I hand them down to our friends when outgrown and they really look brand new. Super comfortable (per my kid) – sad though that she can’t wear sandals to school.

Just checking in, it’s been a while! Blame the holidays.
You have all been so busy! I have been sewing but it has been a run of school uniform, which I am always enthusiastic to start but by the time I am doing my last buttonholes, I am flagging!
I’ve still got to photograph everything, but I have done Lunchbox Culottes, Music Class Blouse,…[Read more] -

Oh @dubhels2003 that made me snort laugh!
But I’ve actually wondered about that; what does one do when the iron on interfacing is scrunched?
@cybele727 I have to admit I was surprised to see this thread refreshed with someone else’s name on it! 🙂 but then, there you were after all. I was cutting a swing set top last night from tiny scraps and was…[Read more] -

@dubhels2003 I thought of you yesterday as I saw a local art space that was being transformed to look like the scene from Alice in Wonderland where Alice meets the knitting sheep and they go boating together (one of my favourite bits for the rowing puns).
The artist is painting a beautiful life size mural on the walls of the art space. It would…[Read more] -

Robin replied to the topic What size to make? in the forum liesl + co: gallery tunic + dress 9 years ago
Hi Jeanette, I’ve only muslined this one,but I went with my regular size an added an FBA. There is a looser silhouette, but I don’t think it will hang right without the FBA. What have other folks experienced? It’s not the answer you’re looking for, but my advice is to make a muslin.

Personally, I love grey so much I consider it a “colour above all others”. But it’s not really, is it. Certainly fits on the monochrome spectrum. After all a black and white image is really variations of grey! I stuck with black and white only for my blog post, but only because i could lose myself in the greys badly!
Here’s my Pinterest board…[Read more] -

Thanks @cybele727 I was thinking it needed it’s own thread.
I’ll have a blog post up soonish for son inspiration and with my (first) monochrome creation.
If you use Flickr tags or instagram then tag with #oliverandsmonochrome then we might have a round up of projects at the end.
I found some great pics on pinterest and started a board. -
Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Parachute polo in all knit? in the forum oliver + s: parachute polo + sweatpants 9 years ago
@justsewit Tamara mine was a relatively thick, stable blend knit. Not as thick as a Ponte. No curling like a cotton lycra, so probably a poly blend. It has a slightly brushed surface and is lovely to wear. It’s the same fabric I’m wearing in the V neck tutorial post.
I’d say it should work in most knits but not really slinky viscose jerseys! -
Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Fairy Tale sizing help? Skip the darts? in the forum oliver + s: fairy tale 9 years ago
The best thing to do is probably to measure the flat pattern across the waistline. Without the darts will it give a big enough waistline?
It would be lovely to do them the same as your first.
I’m wary of the LTTS tutu as wedding attire due to the potential gap at the back. The apron style is perfect for dress ups but would not be a good look in church! -

I’ve just started my zebra dress. I’ll round up some other pics from Flickr/Pinterest and get an inspiration post up on the blog to get us started. Now, I challenge anyone to come with a monotone/September catchy title!
